For a whopping 10 frink points, whose career was launched by writing this song for Ms. Lovich?

Have this vague memory it was Ian Dury? But that can't be right.
Let's get right to it.

A good start with the Pretenders "Message of Love".  They did this (along with most other hits) at the Mountain Winery last Saturday.  A great show.

Who'd you get to go with?

I'm sure sorry I missed my chance, but it wasn't possible.
I went with Bob Kenyon, who I know from RadioParadise, Facebook, and real life playing Christmas carols in a saxophone group.

BOS Chrissie & Co; WOS LoverSagaBoy (sorry, can't tell 'em apart).

The set can only get better from here. These guys truly represented the worst of the early 80s.

Ditto.  I know most people like the Pretenders too, but I can't stand them (except for "Human," which is just on the upper side of tolerable.)  Loverboy is hella cheezy, but to their credit at least they try to be.

BOS to Devo so far.  & Lene Lovich gets an HM.

Cindy Lauper?  This sounds a lot like her.

I was thinking the same thing! But her career was launched by singing lead with Blue Angel, technically.

WOS2 Rush, but of course!

I will say they aren't pronouncing the car correctly.  If it's Italian, it should be "bar-KET-ta"  (hard "K" sound).

Other than that, the song is FREAKING AWESOME!  Adrenaline Surge!

I should clarify: I was referring only to Loverboy as representing the worst of the early 80s. The Pretenders were and are great.

Not digging the Rush too much either, but I bet there's someone here who's liking them even less.

But it's another bustout, in a set that's been full of them.
Let's get right to it.

Good one, "New Toy" actually is about a car, & it was written by Thomas Dolby.

Felder?  I hardly knew her!

I bet this is a bustout too: Heavy Metal

I think the other Don (Henley) is doing backup vox...

Good one. ;) BOS for Don taking that ride.

And beyond that, many years ago when I saw Eagles, Don Felder was the surprise winner in the guitar solos competition.  He was good!  And that's against Joe Walsh!
