a rare visit to '95.  We still haven't hit '96 this year.

So the Gin Blossoms' "Til I Hear It From You" is the TOTHC, then?  I'll give it BOS, it's a lovely song and the band's output holds up nicely.  They brought the tambourine back into focus, too!

P.S.  I still don't know anyone who saw Empire Records, the film this tune came from.

HM to "Hook," which we all should have seen coming.  When I think of '95, I think of Blues Traveler pretty quickly, along with Sophie B. Hawkins' "As I Lay Me Down" and Martin Page's "In the House of Stone and Light."

There's potential for some interesting stuff in this set (Jayhawks & Son Volt both released their best records this year, also early Wilco, but not their best.) Who knows if we'll actually hear any of those or not.

Sorry, Blues Traveler doesn't fall into my "interesting stuff" category.
Let's get right to it.

Ayup!  I remember barely recognizing the slimmed-down John Popper.

BOS2 to "Legalize Our Love," which I majorly shouted out in my EMP speech.

All I'll say is at least it wasn't "RunAround".  '95 makes me think of "A Girl Like You" (also from Empire Records, no?) and another great sndtk, Clueless  -- would that Dave would play the Smoking Popes "Need You Around".

I took a quick glance thru the Top 40 Hits site list for 95 and didn't see a lot that would be likely to show up here--mostly stuff along the lines of Rembrandts, REM, Petty, Bonnie Raitt, or god forbid, Hootie.
Let's get right to it.

C'est correct.  That album is the '90s poster child for great soundtracks to less-than-great movies.

Eek!  Collective Lack Of Soul!

yeah, i was glad it wasn't that other song, either.

what was that dancing song from "clueless?" "where my homies at?" or something like that? something the characters were singing at a party...

OKC Day
« Reply #14 on: May 11, 2005, 10:18:23 AM »
while I don't care for a lot of 1995 music, it was a very important year for me.  On the day of the OKC bombing, I was meeting in a house that used to be Bill Graham's Masada, and agreeing to sell my company.

Later that year, Jerry Garcia died, which had huge financial impacts on me, ironically positive, which made me feel pretty weird.
Don't stand in the way of LOVE!
