VHM Flight of the Conchords, "Business Time."  Barry White meets Beck.

This swing isn't so effin' special to me.

the original is part of an ouevre that I found so so disturbing -- really, an entire generation that related to being losers and creeps? it makes '80s "mope-rock" seem positively uplifting -- and so spoofing it in that fashion strikes me as quite spot-on.

is this "Chopping Broccoli" by Dana Carvey?

Yep.  'Nother BOS.

This is gonna be a quick set.

And in grand 10@10 tradition, we're out before 10:37. (Probably earlier in SF, since the stream always runs slow.)
Let's get right to it.

Damn that was amazing.  Hope this really is a recurring feature.

If it is, I have a long list of suggestions, but the first couple that come to mine are

The Benzedrine Monks Of Santa Domonica - "(Theme From) The Monkees"
...which I got from Mike

The Little Girls - "Earthquake Song"
...which contains the line couplet:  It's [the earthquake] gonna kill my mom & dad, they were the best I ever had
But they better not blame me, 'cuz it's not my fault.

Heh, missed this one when it came out.  Julie Brown updated "Homecoming Queen" to "Ex-Beauty Queen Has a Gun" (Sarah Palin):

(Hey, any way to embed videos here?)

heard most of it in the car on way to office.  Stopped for coffee on the way, but had to sit in my car and listen to the whole craigslist song!  Wild indeed, and enjoyed the multiple Doors riffs.  I've always enjoyed comedy records, and this was like listening to KPIG's 5:15 follies!

big fun

I have to pre-approve any html terms, and I've thought about it.  Maybe give me a list of the html syntax that is needed for YouTube embedding, and I'll see if I can pull it off.

7/10/09 - FRIDAY!!!  It's a Funny Friday!

   1.  Monty Python - Always Look on the Bright Side of Life
   2.  Weird Al - Craig's List
   3.  Steve Martin - King Tut
   4.  Liam Lynch - My U.S. of Whatevah
   5.  Julie Brown - 'Cause I'm a Blonde
   6.  Spinal Tap - Stonehenge
   7.  Dana Carvey - Choppin' Broccoli
   8.  Steve Goodman - Vegomatic
   9.  Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band - The Intro/Outro Song
 10.  Richard Cheese - Creep
 11.  Flight of the Conchords - Business Time

BONUS TRACK (From Sarah in SF):  Frank & Moon Unit Zappa - Valley Girl

Nice Bonus choice, esp considering the love/hate relationship Fogheads have with Zappa.

What about installing this mod:  http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=977

Too much?  Looks like you can be selective about which sites to allow embedding.
