Even I'm not sappy enough for Jon Mayer!

I tuned away from this one, but this song -- iirc -- seemed crafted to reveal the "sensitive" side of Jon Meyer.  In other words, he was trying to get laid..  :)

er, doesn't that describe half his catalog?

WOS2 (and sorry, Gaz) "CITC", Harry at his middlebrow-sentimentality-laden worst.

Wha..?!  this is AM Gold!

sorry, it's sap. And I was a huge Chapin fan. He knew how to step right up to the sappy line without crossing it, most of the time ("W.O.L.D", "Circle"). So of course when he went overboard he scored a #1 single.

a cliché is a cliché because it's so true

<copy editor mode> I like the song myself, but there's a difference b/w a cliché and sappiness< />
;)

outside of scrabble, not much of a difference!
 ;)

So John Mayer followed the Simon tune? And then John Hiatt, yes? I'd forgotten how funny he could be live.
Let's get right to it.

I know this "Oh Daddy" is a fave, but I'd've preferred F.Mac's, or Madonna's "Oh Father".

BOS3 Mr Luhrman. He makes godawful movies but this was a terrific recording.

"live in NYC for a while... but leave before you get too hard
live in Northern Calif for a while... but leave before you get too soft"

ETA: Luhrman produced (and gets the label credit) but the voice is that of Aussie voice actor Lee Perry.

uber-BOS4 Joey's fantabulous cover of "What a Wonderful World". One of my play-it-at-my-funeral songs.

Indeed, hope you are able to revel in a special day for you and Martha, as well as your daughter and her soon-to-be husband.

BOS Joey Ramone It's A Wonderful World. Think this is the wrapup?
