I should change forums for this, but I'm too lazy: TRACKS magazine, which I held out a lot of hope for, has gone on hiatus, in search of more funding.  A sad ending to one of the few music mags that wasn't celebrity-driven.  It must have been that ugly cover of the toothsome but talented Lucinda Williams that did them in.

Gaz, have you checked out Paste mag? Sort of a hybrid of Magnet and No Depression. Indie, with a strong folk/alt country bent. It's a bimonthy, comes with a sampler CD and DVD if you subscribe.

I heard about it for the first time in a separate discussion about TRACKS's demise.  Will check it out next time I'm at a bookstore.  Although I've heard that they tend to put a Christian spin on things, which makes me worry about how they assess us "deviants."

Agreed, that sounded very nice.  I wasn't paying attention to the lyrics, though.  It sounded like it could have been bookended by "Roy Rogers" and "Harmony" on Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.
