KMTT/Seattle appears to no longer be Triple A.  They look like something between Classic Rock and Jack.  The only things they are spinning that are close to currents are "Somebody That I Used to Know" (9x) and Rolling in the Deep (7x) -- and they don't show up anymore in the mediabase AAA airplay leaders for these.  There are also a handful of current songs that have one spin apiece.  Too bad -- they used to be one of my favorite AAA stations.

A couple of years ago they did that great countdown of songs that rip off other songs. Didn't Benson spend some time there after he left KFOG?

Big news in Beantown: Oldoes WODS flips to CHR today as "AMP 103" or something.  the oldies format moves to HD-2 (and presumably Barry Scott's "Lost 45s" as well)

so, I heard once on the Stephanie Miller Show (listening to KTLK via iPhone) that the local outlet KNEW had a big ratings decline when it switched from her show to Glenn Beck, I think it was in the beginning of the year.  You guys know a lot more about radio than I do. How would one find that sort of info?

The "all-news on FM for a younger female demo" experiment in NY and Chicago has ended as both stations with that format, after a year of dreadful ratings, have switched to alt-rock.  The first half-hour:

BEASTIE BOYS/No Sleep Til Brooklyn
ALEX CLARE/Too Close
FOO FIGHTERS/Walk
THIRD EYE BLIND/Graduate
PHOENIX/1901
OF MONSTERS AND MEN/Little Talks
OFFSPRING/Self Esteem
BLACK KEYS/Tighten Up
PEARL JAM/Daughter
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE/Guerilla Radio

wonder if they'll be playing currents ("Little Talks" et al) as many times a day as Live 105 does...

WTH was all news for younger female demo?  reciting tweets and gawker blogs?  I imagine a station that can easily change format from NEWS to that kind of music was doing what too many web sites now do to harvest clicks: repurpose eye candy items from other sites.  They obviously had no "real" news department beyond a couple people who crawled the wires.

you are not far off with that description, actually. Lots of "entertainment" news and giggly bubbleheaded anchorpeople. It tanked, and after 6 months both stations tried to get more "serious" but it was too late.

Amusing gaffe reported by the NYRMB:

"Sherman Hemsley (famous for playing George Jefferson) passed away. At 5:40am-ish today 1010 WINS did the story and instead of the theme from THE JEFFERSONS, they played the theme from THE JETSONS under the story. George JETSON didn't die.  FAIL!"

I've mentioned The Peak's Sun nite show "Anything Anything" -- a free-form show similar to KFOG's old "Adventure Hours" I really need to start listening to this. Here's last nite's playlist:

Anything, Anything - Dramarama
Theme from The Jeffersons - Ja’net DuBois & Jeff Barry
Ghost Fever - Sherman Hemsley (RIP Sherman)
Ghosts Of Princes In Towers - Rich Kids
Prince Charming - Adam & The Ants
Even A Dog Can Shake Hands - Warren Zevon
Me And You And A Dog Named Boo - Lobo
You and Me - Outside The Box
Here Comes My Man - The Gaslight Anthem
Luxury - The Rolling Stones
Miami - Counting Crows
Square Dance For Round Cats - Edd Byrnes
Turn A Square - The Shins
turn it up - Man raze
Bringing on the heartbreak - Def Leppard
Bring On The Night - Bruce Springsteen
Lucky Girl - Patti Scialfa (happy bday Patti)
Happy Hour - The Housemartins
I Don’t Want to Know If You Are Lonely - Husker Du
Lonely Boy - Paul Anka (happy bday Paul)
Lonely Boy - Black keys
catholic boy - Jim Carroll with pearl jam (happy bday Jim)
People Who Died - Ariel Aprecio
All Strung out Chad Everett (RIP Chad)
Don’t Ease Me In - Grateful Dead (happy bday Jerry Garcia)
Electra Woman and Dyna Girl (happy bday Sid Krofft)
B-A-B-Y - Rachel Sweet (happy bday Rachel)
Jackie Onassis - Human Sexual Response (happy bday Jackie)
chapel bells - Fascinators (happy bday Dad)

That's some impressive range, ahtellyawhut.

hrm. Hard to say if this is residual/delayed Twitch-ism (some people who defected probably think he's still here), or what.  Alice is down slightly and Live 105 is unchanged, so... WTF?

More Fogheads switching to Pandora? Also, KUFX is up by 0.2.
Let's get right to it.

Sad to report that 1340 The Boardwalk, that Carolina Beach Music station I was so enamored of, has bitten the dust. They're now a right-wing talk station. RIP.

"The new Live 105! It *IS* better!" (so sez their new top-of-the-hour sounder.)

"Live 105! This is *OUR* music!" That HAS to be a dig at KFOG, no? played right before they spun Grouplove for the billionth time, but whatevs. They seem to be trying to seize the moment in any case. Like, "old people shouldn't be listening to Green Day, dammit!"

And speaking of, has KFOG totally backed off on playing "Oh Love"? I only see 2 spins in the last 24 hours -- unlike Alanis' "Guardian" which is getting the Mumford/fun./Matt Nathanson treatment.
