Holy smokes: Live 105 has upped their Top four songs to 87-89 spins per week. ( :o::) )  A few weeks ago they were 70-74...before that, ~60.

Alice, Star, and Mix aren't much better, with highs in the upper 60s.

KREV's top songs are between 114-119.  Movin's are from 115 to 127.  ::)

In contrast...KFOG tops out at 38.  The top 6 have 26-38 spins per week.  Everything else, 16 or less.

So those six would be... "Drive By", "Somebody That I Used To Know", "We Are Young"... and what other three?

"Simple Song," "Cough Syrup," and "Love Interruption." Also "It's Time," but that looks like it's about to be replaced by "Gold on the Ceiling."  "Somebody That I Used to Know" just got bumped down to 10x this week, although it was in high rotation for months.

The Razor has been, er, cut:

Well, now Cumulus doesn't have to pay for his Parkinsons-related medical bills, I guess.

Wow, Haven't RTFA, but he's been around since I was in high school.

Ralph's comments on SFGate -- the whole firing process took 7 minutes:

Criminy, I know the man has more than his share of issues, still it seems like a fairly shitty way of letting him go.

Our Canuck friends at CKRU-FM appear to have tweaked their music mix -- adding a lot of '90s tunes they never used to play and de-emphasizing '60s stuff. Just heard the BNLs, who never used to pop up in rotation.

Whither Radio Waves?
« Reply #921 on: April 15, 2012, 05:23:11 PM »
Went looking for Ben Fong-Torres' Radio Waves column on SFGate today, since it's been two weeks since the last one. There doesn't seem to be one, so I'm hoping this means Ben is on vacay or something. TC, any news you can offer as to the whereabouts of Radio Waves?
Let's get right to it.

another Sunday afternoon at the gym, another 2 hours of Live 105 -- and it seemed to me I heard alot more non-shared-with-KFOG songs than I did a month ago (don't ask me to name any). Yeah, they're still playing Gotye, Fun(period) and Coldplay hourly, but could it be that someone finally figured out that being "KFOG without the '80s" is a bad business plan?

I wouldn't hold my breath.  You might have just gotten a lucky two hours.  Of their current Top 12, eight are shared with KFOG.

3    1    FUN.    We Are Young f/Janelle Monae    89    86    3    0.7361
1    2    GOTYE    Somebody That I Used To Know    89    90    -1    0.752
4    3    GROUPLOVE    Tongue Tied    88    74    14    0.7418
2    4    M83    Midnight City    88    88    0    0.7422
8    5    COLDPLAY    Paradise    53    51    2    0.4594
7    6    AVICII    Levels    51    51    0    0.4446
19    7    NEON TREES    Everybody Talks    51    23    28    0.4481
6    8    YOUNG THE GIANT    Cough Syrup    51    55    -4    0.4365
27    9    CALVIN HARRIS    Feel So Close    49    12    37    0.418
12    10    FOSTER THE PEOPLE    Don't Stop (Color On The Walls    47    42    5    0.3783
11    11    BLACK KEYS    Gold On The Ceiling    46    43    3    0.3896
5    12    FOSTER THE PEOPLE    Pumped Up Kicks    46    64    -18    0.3888

The other four being Grouplove, M83, Avicii, and Calvin Harris.  Interesting that the latter three (and to a degree, even Grouplove) are straight-up electronica.

So, as Kaiser was blocking live-streams today, I *was* able to listen to podcasts, and I stumbled across old airchecks of Dan Ingram, Cousin Brucie and others.

Over the intro to "Seasons in the Sun": "... and now let's listen as Terry... Jacks." Ah, those were the days.

Just wondering why they're just blocking streams for only a couple of days--hope they're not testing out a new policy or something.

Kaiser's annual Conference is going on in LA -- it's a national thing and they're streaming all the events internally so that folks from the East Coast don't have to travel. Happened last year too. But it does prove they CAN block all live streams if they ever want to...

I brought my 20-year-old Walkman to work today so I'm good-to-go for 1992.

LMAO...speak of the devil, KFOG just added Grouplove! As well as the new Dirty Heads, which is also no doubt going to be a Live 105 overplay, though I could do without that one.  Neither of these are that hot on Triple A, in general...Grouplove has a grand combined total of 45 spins on all AAA stations and Dirty Heads has even less than that.  DC really is trying to go for Live 105's jugular.
