For you young'uns: a "gen-X oldies" format on a station on Lawn Guyland:
http://www.my94x.com/Listen-Live/6089805
They basically play Top 40 hits from 1985-2005. I just tuned in and they went from "Hollaback Girl" to Mariah Carey's "Someday". This shit is bananas, all right. I'm told they play quite a bit of rock too. Will investigate more tomorrow.
Damned gen-Xers and their incessant navel gazing....
gonna listen to them for the next hour -- we're starting off with DM's "Enjoy the Silence"
Damn -- the reverb they're using on the deejay makes '60s Top 40 sound like NPR.
Finger Eleven, "One Thing"
Lauryn Hill, "Doo Wop (That Thing)"
yay! we get RickRolled! "Never Gonna Give You up"
Salt'n'Pepa, "Whatta man" (HAAAAAAAY!)
Justin Timberlake, "What Goes Around..."
Alanis Meredith Brooks, "Bitch"
Nelly, "Country Grammar"
Black Crowes, "Hard to Handle"
AB Logic "The Hitman"
Bon Jovi, "Livin' on a Prayer"
Seal, "Crazy"
Well, that was kinda interesting. Wouldn't want it as a steady diet (and that Nelly --> Black Crowes segue is dicey) but if I were 35 I'd be all over it -- surprised this format isn't more widespread, market-wise.
