For you young'uns: a "gen-X oldies" format on a station on Lawn Guyland:

They basically play Top 40 hits from 1985-2005. I just tuned in and they went from "Hollaback Girl" to  Mariah Carey's "Someday".  This shit is bananas, all right. I'm told they play quite a bit of rock too. Will investigate more tomorrow.

USC is buying KCNL 104.9 in order to make it a simulcast of KDFC.

Holy smokes: Live 105 has upped their Top four songs to 87-89 spins per week. ( :o &  ::) )  A few weeks ago they were 70-74...before that, ~60.

Alice, Star, and Mix aren't much better, with highs in the upper 60s.

KREV's top songs are between 114-119.  Movin's are from 115 to 127.  ::)

In contrast...KFOG tops out at 38.  The top 6 have 26-38 spins per week.  Everything else, 16 or less.

As I noted on FB, in 2 hours of Live 105 Sunday afternoon, I heard "We Are Young" 3 times. Damn, I hate People-Meters.

The KREV figure actually seems low, considering I hear songs twice an hour --I'm guessing different mixes of the same song count as different songs? I also see they've added the Billy Bush syndicated crapfest in evenings. Heard a bit at the gym tonite -- yeesh. And they played a dance mix of "Pumped-Up Kicks" that was painful.

And I guess the KFOG number seems right -- 38 spins per week is roughly 5-1/2 times a day, when you factor in all the "specialty" shows on Sunday.
