iirc, he did something odd the last time but promised a "real" HFH set next time around, so... we'll see.

Indeed, as of yesterday, he's taking calls for ideas (not to be confused with "taking requests").

You can also post suggestions on his blog. The usual suspects so far (almost all from the '70s) -- HFH needs new blood, IMHO.

Hi Dave,

I for one LOVE the occasional HFH set for precisely the reason you usually mention, namely that you need the bad to appreciate the good.  But I also like HFH for the same reason we all look when we drive past a wreck, namely "How the heck could someone let THAT happen?" mixed with "Oooh, how bad IS it?".  In that spirit here's list of songs that are not only Hits From Hell, they are all Chart-Topping Billboard #1 Hits From Hell.  I'm sure there are lots I missed - I only picked one Milli Vanilli & other than the Macarena I kind of stopped at the end of the 80's.  I especially hope you can play "Ringo", 'cuz I've only heard it once before.

Air Supply - The One That You Love - 1981
Alan O'Day - Undercover Angel - 1977
Anita Ward - Ring My Bell - 1979
Bad English - When I See You Smile - 1989
Barbra Streisand & Neil Diamond - You Don't Bring Me Flowers - 1978
Bo Donaldson & The Heywoods - Billy, Don't Be a Hero - 1974
Bobby Goldsboro - Honey - 1968
C.W. McCall - Convoy - 1975
Cheap Trick - The Flame - 1988
David Soul - Don't Give Up On Us - 1977
Falco - Rock Me Amadeus - 1986
Irene Cara - Flashdance...What a Feeling - 1983
John Denver - Thank God I'm A Country Boy - 1975
Lorne Greene - Ringo - 1964
Los Del Rio - Macarena - 1996
Mary MacGregor - Torn Between Two Lovers - 1976
Melanie - Brand New Key - 1971
Milli Vanilli - (Girl) I'm Gonna Miss You - 1989
Olivia Newton-John - Have You Never Been Mellow - 1975
Paul Anka with Odia Coates - (You're) Having My Baby - 1974
Phil Collins - Sussudio - 1985
Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up - 1988
Starland Vocal Band - Afternoon Delight - 1976
Styx - Babe - 1979
Terry Jacks - Seasons In the Sun - 1974
Toni Basil - Mickey - 1982
Will to Power - Baby, I Love Your Way / Freebird Medley (Free Baby) - 1988

If Lorne Greene is in it, then William Shatner's version of "Rocket Man" (we've already heard his version of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds) should be on it.

On a side note: apparently Shatner was such a jerk on the set of Star Trek to everyone that he isn't invited to George Takai's wedding to his partner.

Lorne Greene - Ringo - 1964
Melanie - Brand New Key - 1971

These are not hits from hell, imho.  Well, maybe Lorne Greene and Ringo, but one does not mess with Ben Cartwright.

ETA:  OK, definitely Ringo.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0V7ILiXurQg  However, it will come in handy next time one of you puts together a treasure hunt -- how many songs have the word 'varmit' in the lyrics?

Of those four, only "Ringo" hasn't already been in a HFH set, so I included them.  I don't even think the John Denver is a Turkey, and that's certainly the worst Melanie & Falco are imho.

Takei has a very funny cameo in Zohan, which is about the least obvious & over the top laugh in the whole movie.

sounds like a '70s-centric set in store. Shatner is TOTHK, covering Sinatra. ("shatner" is, of course, the past tense of "shitner".)

and no argument that this takes "bad" to a whole. new. level. But everything else will seem bearable by comparison.

what's the story?  This wasn't a hit. Missed the opening; did he announce rules?
