from our usual perch below Twin Peaks

on Portola, just as it starts to descend, lots of people in the parking lot.  Lots of fun, but an odd weather issue.  It seems as if the wind was blowing slightly in our direction down at the pier, as a huge smoke cloud formed from the explosions, and often masked  the view.  The music seemed more subdued this year, but some really nice shells.  Hard to say it's the best, but it was fun.  Did you guys get down to the pier?

See my Kaboom Kritique thread -- I completely forgot this thread existed.
None of us who went to mshray's actually went to the pier.

After everyone else cleared out of my place, Beej & I accompanied Mr & Mrs Rod over to his pad in Alameda, where we, too, got to our perch with seconds to spare.  Actually Rod didn't get up onto the roof until about the 3rd explosion.  My kids enjoyed it, especially the ones that looked like Saturn ("...and Jupiter and Uranus, Daddy!" "...and Pluto, too Daddy").

I liked the cube ones primarily 'cause I have no idea how you can make something explode with sharp corners in the blast pattern.

Kaboom? What about Wing Ding (or whatever they called it last year)? Has it been finally phased out? It seemed like it didn't get nearly as much of a push last year.
Let's get right to it.

Should we go for another Kaboom party at my place?  Actually I'd kinda like to get all the way into the city this year for the show, so maybe not.

My thoughts exactly. Wasn't it usually last weekend of March?

And where did Ali get her inside info? nothing on the KFOG website.

WingDing is always the last Friday of March because Great America always opens the last Saturday of March for the season. Although this year the park opens on April 1 (I know because my office building is across the street), but that still means WingDing would be March 31.

ETA:  Guess it is now offically only the Bone's gig: http://www.1077thebone.com/events/pga/

Took me awhile too. Go to the Bone website and mouse over a few links. It might take a minute or two. You'll get it.

That was tame, I expected to get "the finger." I got the Kaboom tip via a Foghead email.

Ah, I see: It works in IE but not in Firefox.   At least, not in my version.  But yeah, that's a cute idea.
