Don't stop til you get what you want: Rick Springfield bops til he drops at #25, after Diana Ross had been swept away at #26.  Two weird ones from megastars on hit streaks.

Casey's '80s takes us to 1984, where - TANC, Mike - debuting at #38 is H&O's "Out of Touch"!

"Manic moves and drowsy dreams"!

I spent a weekend in Minn/St Paul in Oct of '84 -- following Mondale/Ferraro around for ABC -- and remember hearing that H&O tune and "Purple Rain" repeatedly.

And that Joe Simon track was, um, kind of a mess.
I suppose I mentioned "Theme from Cleopatra Jones" not so much for the tune but more for the movie, a prime example of early 70's Blaxploitation.  Right on, brutha!

great stuff as always: The Band's forgotten Marvin Gaye cover; completely obscure David Cassidy; Gallery covering Mac Davis, and -- paging the princess -- Sam "Jesus" Neely!

Is it too early to start hoping that we get this-week-in-1972 the week of my birthday (12/15)?

My first time hearing those David Cassidy ("Rock Me Baby") and Michael Murphy ("Geronimo's Cadillac") tracks.  And, I hope, my last.  Yikes.

Are you thinking of Ted Neeley (JCS)?  Totally different head.

I was unaware that Ze Co-Kair had done "Midnight Rider," but here it is, almost unrecognizable, at #31.

Chuck Berry is up to #7 with a future #1, playing with his dick and getting away with it on "My Ding-a-Ling."

Mac Davis falls out of the top spot to #6, being a dick and getting away with it on "Baby, Don't Get Hooked on Me."

Apparently today KFRC is doing a "Casey Kasem Amer Top 40" marathon, currently in the middle of a replay from July 17, 1976!

"Geronimo's Cadillac"? Really? I'm surprised -- a lost classic (from before Murphy "went country") about the mistreatment of Native Americans. Hardly a song to hate. The Cassidy I don't remember at all; I'll get back to you after I hear it tonite.
