I liked that Casey took a break from the countdown to play Carole King's only hit to that point: "It Might as Well Rain Until September."  Wonder if he had any inkling what Tapestry was to do.

And now, just switched over to Casey's '80s, where Juice Newton does a weird electro take on "Tell Her No" that I don't remember and Sheena Easton goes transatlantic for "Telefon."

LDDs didn't come in until '78, iirc -- I'm wondering if this is a 4-hour show edited to fit into 3 hours?

It appears that the LDD just happened to be a current hit in that week's Top 40.

Casey's '80s always include LDDs.

This set has a number of flashback moments for me; I was definitely engaged with some pop at this point (age 5).  Three songs from the "Sgt. Pepper" debacle of a movie!  Alas, I'll miss the set: I'll be spending the weekend in DC and in Frederick, MD, celebrating Oktoberfest with an old friend.

Gearing up for AT40 and I must say that Magic 98 in Madison, WI does a fine job with their "Saturday at the '70s", which precedes Casey; all-'70s, all day Saturday, and every hit you could possibly hope to hear. Just before Casey tonite: "Billy Don't Be a Hero" and "JC Superstar" back-to-back.

And the countdown begins with Casey introducing "the San Francisco artist who calls himself Sylvester", "Dance (Disco Heat)".

and at #39, NTM: the Vancouver band Stonebolt, "I Will Still Love You", a fairly generic ballad.

TANC: after praising Michael Johnson's "Bluer Than Blue" on 10@10 last week, I'm astounded to hear (at #35) the completely forgotten follow-up, a sly remake of the old Lerner & Loewe chestnut "Almost Like Being in Love" -- paging Michael Buble!   Don't remember this at all; it ended up peaking at #32.

And a few songs later, here's H&O's truly wonderful "It's a Laugh". Great sax work.

And a few more songs later, "5-7-0-5", City Boy, who I saw as H&O's opening act that fall.

TANC: after hearing the 4 Tops' version of "MacArthur Park" yesterday, we get Ms Summer, whose disco take is the week's highest debut at #25.  And Toni & Daryl make a comeback of sorts with "You Never Done it Like That".

Here come Steve Tyler, he come groovin' up slow-LAH! "Come Together" is one of 3 (!) Sgt Pepper movie hits in this week's chart. We heard EWF earlier, and Robin Gibb's fairly worthless version of "Oh Darling" is yet to come. I wish Dave would dig out Robin's "Boys Do Fall in Love" in an '84 set.
