I have to say, given 23 years' hindsight, that "New Attitude," much as I want to like it, just wasn't a very good song.  Sloppily written but gamely performed, its slot just outside the Top 10 seems about right.  I'd MUCH rather do the Neutron Dance.

Heh heh, perhaps Jackson should consider recording that, with the last 15 years he's had.  PS- Hey, its dancing banana, diggin' the sounds of 78!

BTW, Casey is taking part in a month-long "Flashback to the '70s" on cable Superstation WGN. He's hosting evenings of '70s shows like "Taxi" "MTM" and "Welcome Back Kotter". Up yo' nose with a rubber hose!

The XM show for the 80's this weekend isn't a regular show but what they call "Top 40 Newcomers". According to the XM website, it's from May of 1988 (only a few months before Casey left the show).

MJ's version would be "Whiter Than White" ;)

Most interesting of the '78 set was Elton John's "Ego," whose chart failure left Casey shocked - shocked!  Never mind that it's a formless track with no refrain.

Casey's '80s went to 1980, where "Call Me" was enjoying its sixth week atop the charts, staving off "Ride Like the Wind" and "Lost in Love."  The Isley Bros. are in at 39 with what must be the s-l-o-w-e-s-t song ever to chart Top 40, "Don't Say Goodnight."

Ew: At 30, "Should've Never Let You Go," Sedacky and his daughter Dara harmonizing about as well as your average high school theater production.

I can only assume you've never heard it before? 'cause it's hideously sappy.  But I have a friend who adores #31, "Son of Sagittarius".

I've never heard either of those.  Once I saw there were unfamiliars I stopped reading the chart - corny me, I want to be surprised tomorrow morning.
