BOS3 GK&tP, "...Imagination," with special attention to those pounding toms.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

1984 Hour 1: Real Life's "Send Me an Angel" on its first go-'round. (It would hit the 40 again in '89.)  VHM. Meanwhile, Percy's in the mood.

I may "Remember the Nights" but I'd like to forget the Motels. WOS1.

VHM the PO-lice, "Synchronicity II". And VHM Deborah Allen's country-crossover "Baby I Lied". One can imagine mid-'70s ONJ doing this one.

"Yah Mo Be There" -- but he wasn't there for Tebow yesterday.  VHM Chrissie, with her pants behind her. or something.

Duuuuuuuuuuude! Quiet effin' Riot!!

forgotten hits on parade: the Fixx's "Sign of Fire" isn't so hot; Macca's "So Bad" kinda *is*.

BOS1 (finally!): Jeffrey Osborne's "Stay With Me Tonight"

eeek: our CKRU extras this hour are "Put Your Hand in the hand" and "Seven Bridges Road". Oy.

Ah, but now we're getting somewhere: Hour 2 kicks off with BOSes galore: Spandau's unjustly overlooked "Gold", BJ's superb "An Innocent Man", Culture Club takes us to "Church..." and Shannon lets the music play-haaaaay!

VHM Madonna; uber-BOS6 DeBarge's creamy-dreamy "Time Will Reveal". *swoon*

WOS2 .38 Special.

BOS7 Ray Parker's shameless-yet-inspired ripoff of "Every Breath You Take"; TANC we heard Huey's "I Want a New Drug" as an extra and they mentioned that it was the, er, "inspiration" for "Ghostbusters".

VHMs "Major Tom" and Barry M's collab with Jim Steinman.

uber-WOS3 "The Curly Shuffle", one of the worst novelty hits of the '80s.

I got to listen to the latter part of the show, but couldn't post.  Hour 2 was the best one of the lot.  Pretty much agree with your BOSes (I love Spandau Ballet and you knooow I loves me some DeBarge) and WOS, though I'd also WOS "Think of Laura".  <gag>

Yeah, I was spacing out by then -- I often wonder how the family of the real "Laura" (she was a young woman Cross knew who died, iirc) felt when the song became part of the Gen'l Hospital marketing machine.

pre-show on CKRU: nice to hear the 5-Man Electrical Band's *other* hit.

Hour 1: instant BOS the Spinners' sadly forgotten "Love or Leave"; instant WOS Cledus Maggard's horrendous "White Knight", "Convoy"s evil cousin.

"Yeah... she's at home..." VHM Barry White.  BOS2 Ms Ronstadt's lovely countrification of "Tracks of My Tears"

VHM Donny & Marie -- "Deep Purple" is one of their more tolerable covers, tho' admittedly that's not's saying much.

Bowie insults Italians, wop-wop-wop.

Love, be tender with my fanny!  BOS3 BeeGees. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgDbE6WOyws

VHM ONJ at her countriest -- the sweet "Let it Shine" is quite the lost gem, IMHO.

Neil Young says nice things about the Eagles.  Wonder if he still feels that way.

Hour 2: BOS4 the cheeze-tastic "Paloma Blanca".

BOS5 Ms Reddy's "Somewhere in the Night" -- music too magic to end, indeed.

beyond cheeze-tastic: Wing and a Babyface Prayerchestra.

Proxy of Alicat: Teddy wakes up everybody.

Barry DeVorzon-tastic: VHM "Theme From S.W.A.T."

BOS6 the foxy "Fox on the Run"

VHM Wacky Sedacky -- i thought this ballad-ization of "BUIHTD" was inspired at the time; didn't find out until decades later that Lenny Welch had done it that way in 1970.

And Casey omitted Welch in favor of the Happenings when recounting the song's past Top 40 appearances.  (He also forgot that Nazareth's "Love Hurts" was a cover.)

Hour 3: BOS7 John Denver feat ONJ -- this one has really grown on me in recent years. Just lovely.

mercy sakes alive, we got us a "Convoy".

'86 Hour 1: proxy of geoff & shray, Thompson Twins.

He'll never love you like Freddie Jackson -- well, given that Freddie's a big ol' queen...

BOS1 Atlantic Starr; VHM RFTW.

Hey TaMara -- you've been seen. On the scene. or something. VHM.

Always a BOS for the late Baltimora.

VHM Ms Benatar's underrated "Sex as a Weapon"; ditto a-Ha's "The Sun Always Shines on TV"

WOS1 Corey Hart.

Hour 2:  NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! WOS2 Starship's horrid "Sara".

eeek: WOS3 Phil Collins/Marilyn what's-her-name. Ugh.

VHM: Pete T faces the face -- and it hurts!

BOS3 the fantabulous Sheila E, swallowing the pride and joy of Prince's... er... tower.

BOS4 Sade -- haaay!  WOS4 Kenny Loggins.

Yikes, coming up in the next hour: Mr Mister, Night Ranger, Bryan Adams, the Cars...  I think I'll hit mute and watch the AFC Playoff.

WOS1 Corey Hart.

Shocking how many utterly forgettable Top 40 hitss Corey Hart had.

Back in the '70s set, I'd like "Paloma Blanca" better if it didn't make me involuntarily hum, "Flintstones, meet the Flintstones ..."
