We're around the same age.  I'd say 1983-85 were pretty sledgehammery, no?

BOS12 "Borderline".  One of Madge's finest hours.  Pretty good early MJ imitation too.

BOS13 "Sister Christian".  The ULTIMATE guilty pleasure song.  Oh, don't lie.

BOS14 Tra-la-la-la "The Reflex".

VHM Belinda's "Circle in the Sand"; I'd forgotten how good this sounds.  Her later cover of "Summer Rain" was a logical follow-up; I wish it'd done better.

TANC: Swellegant Tim just posted the "Summer Rain" vid on FB and when Gaz called it a "cover" I assumed he was referring to the Johnny Rivers tune. But it's a diff song/same title thing. NTM and it doesn't do much for me.

For some reason, I had it in my head that BC had indeed covered JR.  Now that I'm listening to the actual song, I have no memory of it - yikes.  Why do I have a memory of something that didn't occur?

listening to these crazy Canucks each week has made me a Keith Hampshire fan  -- the David Clayton-Thomas soundalike who had a buch o' hits north of the border but never broke thru here. Off to Amazon to see if there's a cheap anthol of his stuff.

BOS2 Waylon in Lukenbach. Just gorgeous.  Rita C gets higher. The rumor was that she left Mr Kristofferson for a woman.

uber-BOS3 Ms Reddy's fantabulous cover of "You're My World". a Kim Fowley (!) production.

VHM ABBA, "KM, KY"; can't quite VHM John Miles' overwrought disco attempt, "Slowdown", but he deserved better, US-career-wise. Sylvester shoulda covered this one.

Chaka's in "Hollywood" with Glen C, dreaming of "Southern Nights".  Frampton does the sheepherder's love song, "I'm in Ewe".

This John Miles' Slowdown is pretty frantic.   Like it although it might give me a coronary just listening to it.

one of my faves -- and as noted above, Kim Fowley produced! I always assumed it was a paycheck job he took while trying to get the Runaways off the ground, but stellar work nonetheless.

VHM Maynard Ferguson, losing the cover battle with Bill Conti but still contributing a fine version of "Rocky". BOS4 Whinyface herself with yet another cover, "Hello Stranger".

Damn, this fine first hour continues with an unfairly forgotten H&O hit: BOS5 "Back Together Again".  And (of course) uber-uber-BOS6 "Ariel", even if it *is* the butchered 45 mix.

Hour 2: our '70s pop-fest continues. BOS Hall-of-Fame, Andy Gibb; VHM the Sylvers forgotten "High School Dance"; and Kenny Nowwan says "Wuv's Gwown Deep".

Damn, the faves just keep on comin': BOS7 Peter McCann's "Do You Wanna Make Love?", as fine a bit of pop songwriting as '77 gave us.  BOS8 Babs with one of her pop peaks: "My Heart Belongs to Me" -- written by Alan Gordon, who co-wrote "Happy Together" and several other Turtles hits. And another slow dance from the Addrissi Bros.

AaaacK! it all comes crashing down with Shaun Cassidy and Jimmy Buffett. But VHM Mr Manilow.

WTFF? they bleeped the "god" from "goddamn" in "Life in the Fast Lane". Guess we won't be hearing the "funky shit" version of "Jet Airliner", then.

You can always count on hearing the Guess Who from CKRU.  But I still don't know what a "fuzzy-wuzzy lovin'-cup explosion" is.

Hour 3 starts with some funky... kicks.  Wonder how many folks thought Steve Miller was singing about a "big ol' Jedi 'liner"? BOS9 Joe Tex's dee-liteful "Ain't Gonna Bump" and BOS10 Hot's "Angel in Your Arms", which surely woulda been one of my AL requests yesterday had she been soliciting them.

as noted by Casey, a great chart for songwriters who had composed big hits for others, breaking thru with hits of their own. Peter McCann, Kenny Nolan, and now Alan O'Day's delicious slice of pop cheeze. BOS11 "Undercover Angel".  Ah said WHUUUUUTT??  RIP Mr Gold yet again.

BOS12 (!) "Lucille" -- an absolute gem of country story-songwriting.
