I prefer singing "Joanna" as "Joe Mama."  And speaking of great videos, this Solid Gold clip of K&tG's "Tonight" is epic.  Those sweats!  That headband!  For a deflowering tale!

BOS to Shannon's "Let the Music Play," one of the best tunes of the decade.

Hour 2: uber-BOS Shannon's ode to Mr Peabody. He's dancing his Waybac to me!

WOS2 ONJ -- it's "Desperate" all right. I'm assuming Madonna eventually eclipsed that most-consecutive-years-with-a-Top40-appearance record?

I never thought I'd be tired of "They Don't Know", but here it is in March of '84, giving the lie to AL's playing of it in an '83 set. Either way, moratorium please.

Dwight Twilley sounds silley.

TANC:  I was just listening to this on my way to work today!  (Followed by I Can't Wait, Buffalo Stance and Domino Dancing)   :)

I'd like to listen - which station is it on again?

I'm pretty sure you're right.  Livvy made it 13 the next year with "Soul Kiss," but Madge charted every year from 1989 through 2003. (She had no Top 40 singles in '88, otherwise we could stretch her back to '83.)

VHM to Howard Jones, throwing off his mental chains on "New Song."  Not as sublime as his follow-up, "What Is Love?," but still a pleasant listen.

I hear she's quite good at stretching her own back.  ;)

VHM Tina T, beginning her big comeback with the Heaven 17-produced "Let's Stay Together". Didn't Casey tell this Tina story yesterday?

BOS5 Queen's fab "Radio Ga-Ga".

Thanks!  This is going to make working on Sundays infinitely more enjoyable.
WOS Ike "Inevertouchedthebitch" Turner.   ETA:  WOS actually goes to that horrible Runner song that just played.

You lie, Mr O'Dowd: you can sell a contradiction better than anyone I know. VHM.

I never liked MMEB's "The Runner"; WOS3.  AOR -- the stations that played stuff like this, Van Halen, and Yes' "Leave It" but ignored anything remotely New Wavish -- *really* sucked around this time.

Hour 3: KC kicks it off with BOS6, the wonderful "Give It Up"  -- the 2nd song today that I first heard on a trip to London in '83 (the other was Paul Young).

Speaking of how AOR sucked in the '80s: WOS4 .38 Special. What a truly worthless band.

Most peculiar, momma: John Lennon back-to-back with Weird Al.

Well, "Hello" Mr Ritchie!

BOS7 Duran2, "New Moon on Monday"; BOS8 "Miss Me Blind" -- which is also an Alison once-removed, with their previous LP title (Kissing to be Clever) in the lyric.

Good lord, I haven't heard this Dan Fogelberg song since '84.  Not that I'm complaining.

Sauerkraut You Like A Hurricane.  Well, the bitch is hungry...

But I wouldn't complain if I never heard it again, either  ;)

WOS5 Phunky Phil's "Against all Manilows", which Barry M surely would've recorded had the movie come out in '78 rather than '84.

VHM MJ's record-setter. He's not like the other boyz!

actually, that's probably what he looks like now...

DUUUUDE! this hour's extra is Scorpions, "Rawk You Like a Hurricane"
