OK, the pre-10cc Hotlegs' "Neanderthal Man" is pretty awful, much as I love what they morphed into. Casey called that "reggae" -- ROTFL!
Didn't have time to post comments on this set this weekend, but I'm mostly in agreement with what you said. I'd never heard of the Elvis song, but I really dug it. Can someone recommend an Elvis comp that covers his '70s material while ignoring everything pre-'68? (This is blasphemy to most, I know, but hey.)
As for the Hotlegs - one of the worst songs ever, in my book (I'm overdue in updating my worst-songs-ever list). But what would you call that rhythm? Not reggae, true, but it's syncopated - or maybe just sloppy. How on earth did that chart?
And as for 1984, just one comment: How on earth did Glenn Frey's "Sexy Girl" chart? ICKIEST SONG EVER.
