The Top 40 at its most monocultural - or the monoculture at its Top 40-est.  Either way, lots of good stuff here; nothing NTM, but a few (like Matthew Wilder's forgotten escape from OHW-dom, "The Kid's American") that I haven't heard in 25 years.  (It hurts to type that.)

Gladys imagines a lot of happy people!  VHM to Ms. Knight and the credited but absent Pips on "Help Me Make It Through the Night."

The Temptations' "Take a Look Around" was so NTM, I'd never even noticed it in their chart history before.  I can see why it was left off their 2-CD GH comp I have.

It's the Polish Prince!  From Canonsburg, PA (IIRC), Bobby Vinton and "Every Day of My Life."  Absurdly out of place in this countdown.  I often forget that "My Melody of Love" wasn't really a comeback for him in terms of years.

ETA: I swear I typed that before Casey called him "the Canonsburg Kid" on the backsell!

interesting that Donny Osmond was "the electronics buff" of the family, who Casey says "repaired" their TVs and radios and amps.  Oh Dang, these new fangled contraptions!   I can't get them to work!  Get Donny over here.... those kids know everything about the wireless...

nice melodramatic torch song by Cher, laying the groundwork for place as Vegas act/gay icon.

I've said many times that if Sammy's version had come out when the movie did, instead of nearly a year later, "Candy Man" would've easily won the Best Song Oscar for '71 (and Isaac Hayes would've been a mad mother---- Shut mah mouth!)
