This weekend (2/6-7) Casey70's visits Feb 2, 1974:

Note that Casey didn’t play song #5 since another version of 'Americans' was played at #26.  NTM, I didn't know there was another hit called “ABRACADABRA” (De Franco Family) before Steve Miller's hit.

Looking at the Cue sheets throughout Feb of 1974, it appears Casey alternated between the two versions playing one version one week, then the other next week.

BOS to Elton's GYBR.  Another of the very first songs I ever heard; it made me cry, even though I had no idea then what the words meant.  I only knew it was the saddest melody I'd ever heard, and even today it makes me pause when I hear it.

Temps' "Let Your Hair Down," an R&B #1, is forgettable to my ears: I almost called it NTM, but then checked, and it's indeed on the Temps 2-CD anthology I have.

BOS2 to La Ross, "Last Time I Saw Him."  Don't cry, honey!  TANC: I just watched Lady Sings the Blues for the first time last night.  Diana was passable, but the storytelling was poor.  Whose fault is that - the director?

BOS3 to "Boogie Down."  I wish I liked Macca's "Helen Wheels" more, but the lo-fi production bugs me.

I'm puzzled by the chart action on the Stones' "Heartbreaker," which debuts all the way up at #22 this week but goes on to peak only at #15, lasting only 6 weeks on the chart.  Surprising for a follow-up to a #1 that itself remains a classic-rock recurrent.

Caught some of it last nite too. Billy Dee -- Oh MY!  But yeah, it's a typical cliched H'wood biopic. Not a great screenplay. The director was Sidney J Furie, who was a guy that did a lot of genre shlock before graduating to stuff like The Ipcress File with Michael Caine.  LSTB was supposed to be his big leap to respectability, but it was all downhill after that.

indeed. Now, if they'd covered the 4 Seasons' "Walk Like a Man", they mighta had somethin'.  Looooved hearing Casey sing on the outro from "Dark Lady".
