While "Why Me" by Kris Kristofferson had a long run (19 weeks in the 40) it only reached #16. It ended up in the top 10 for 1973 (#6 as a matter of fact).

Is there a way to get the Billboard end-of-year charts?

Sorry I didn't get to hear this; easily one of the more diverse charts, sonically, in memory.
Here's a great site to see all of Billboard Magazine's year end charts.                                            http://longboredsurfer.com/charts.php

Not just #2. See also #4, #9, #15, and several other candidates.

And we should nominate Nadia's Theme next time AL does a Strictly Instrumental set (or whatever she's calling it nowadays.)
Let's get right to it.

Hey, I like #4 "Wreck o' the Ed Fitzgerald," but yes, many on that chart make the rockers cringe.  Two I wasn't familiar with, #36 "Anything You Want" by John Valenti (turns out to be a one hit disco-ish tune from a Chicago singer that only got as high as #37) and #31 "Did You Boogie With Your Baby" by Flash Cadilliac & the Continental Kids (with spoken bits by Wolfman Jack!), a 50's-style tune that got as high as #29.  And, for Halloween week: "Frankenstein," "Monster Mash," "Devil Woman," "Don't Fear the Reaper," "Muskrat Love," "Disco Duck"  ;D

Magic 98's stream was down Sat nite, so I had to wait until this morning for my Kasem fix. The John Valenti was NTM -- a white "blue-eyed soul singer", according to Whitburn.  And he does one of the best white-guy Stevie Wonder imitations I've ever heard. But the Salsoul Orch's "Nice'n'Naaasty" gets the week's WOS (which is saying something, given some of the HFHs noted above).

Speaking of Whitburn, I got his latest Top Pop Singles book and he mentioned on his iPod, that he has 41,520 songs on it or every song listed in the book.

how odd: the #1 song from last week's 1976 chart is an extra this week. WTF?  Obviously "Butters" Stotch is working as an intern at AT40!

#33, I Just Want To Make Love To You by Foghat is a live cut, w crowd noises, applause, etc.

Makes me wonder: What live song charted the highest?

-- and by "live" I mean a version that was truly recorded live, w obvious crowd noises, concert setting etc.  I know engineers can augment live recording w extra studio tracks, and fudge the fidelity, etc., and there are studio songs that have "live" effects thrown in (a poor example of what I mean here is the segment of Rush's Spirit Of Radio where Geddy mentions "Concert Hall!" and you hear some crowd noise), but I mean something recorded in front of an audience.  I'm guessing Peter Frampton's Do You Feel Like We Do? is up there, maybe Kiss' RnRAN, too...?

We hear the Babys chart debut at 32 with "Isn't It Time," and Casey's back announce was funny to me, because he says something like "That's Isn't It Time, the 32nd song by the Babys," and I heard it as "That's, Isn't It Time,  the thirty second song by the Babys...!"   Yes, it was a brief edit.

Julie Collins' Send In The Clowns sounded warped.  Did anyone else catch that?  Isn't it queer?
