I hate this "I Get Around" segment they often play during commercial breaks - Mike Love is such a fucking dick.
I know, who does he think he is, the best tambourine player around??

LOL -- Good one!

I assume we'll get the 3-minute single edit of "Miracles" - oh well.

WOS to La Ronstadt, in what I'm sure Mike would agree is an even more unnecessary remake than "Our Day Will Come."

That's the one thing I'd like to change about these AT40 shows: give us the full versions!

When I started re-listening to them, I realized how the show -- and AM radio in general -- uses the radio edits (maybe they even make their own edits when necessary..?).

... and agree about Linda, there she is YELLING again -- "YEAH, YEAH!!"

Yes, I'm sure Casey cut down songs even further, for "time considerations".

Okay, Mshray just called, so I'm out the door now to meet him and Dave Morey at Peet's Walnut Creek.  Later ...

Wincing at "Island Girl" at #1, a rare displeasure in a triff set from my second-favorite year in pop music.

Tinka, have a good weekend!

see y'all later....  wish I was in Walnut Creek to say hi to Davey.

Oh "Island Girl,"  I played this 45 to death.  When I eventually got bored of it and flipped the record over, I found I liked the B-side:   "Grow Some Funk of Yer Own."  Who knew that records had two playable sides?

I certainly didn't on first discovery of 45s.  I was introduced to the medium in '77 when I was 4 via my mom's collection, to which I gravitated "Convoy" and "Shimmy Shimmy Ko-Ko Bop."  (This should go a long way to explaining my tastes.)  I have no idea what was on the flip of either of those.

"Diamonds & Rust" is still quite amazing -- I remain astounded that it made the Top 40 at all.  No idea who the woman duetting with Frankie Valli is; guess they thought she'd be his Odia Coates.

Anyone else notice that Casey never actually named the Elvis song that debuted at #10 and peaked at #3?  I've scoured Billboard and can't find the answer!

"Get a lay! Get a lay!" advises John Fogerty. Er... OK!

And appropriately, he's followed by Leon Haywood, who wants to slide into somebody's canyon. Sounds like he needs a "Wide Receiver".

Gaz, I'd never considered that Diana Ross comparison regarding Ms Manchester's "Just Too Many People", but you're dead on. La Ross shoulda done it instead of "Last Time I Saw Him", which I've always thought would've been an ideal "Ruby Red Dress" follow-up for Helen Reddy.

The second-oddest white-gospel hit of 1975 (after the Simon/Snow "Gone at Last"): Manhattan Transfer's "Operator".

Miss Mavis feels like a Butterfinger. I'm a Snickers guy myself.

The local ads on this Madison, WI station are always colorful, but this floored me: The NYC Board of Education is running spots (voiced by the great Cynthia Nixon) recruiting for teachers in Wisconsin!

OMG -- this Wisconsin station censored the word "bitch" in Sedaka's "Bad Blood". Oh by cracky!

But Leon Russell's lady blew, and they let that thru.
