I tuned in to the funtastic sounds of Company B, but the company I had over wasn't exactly fascinated by the song or the rest of the broadcast.  I did get to hear "Pleasure Principle" (with the volume turned down...booo) but am truly bummed I missed "Diamonds".

"Hold" on: we begin with Argent's "Hold Your Head Up" and the Osmonds with a song written by a ballerina's assistant: "Hold Her Tights". Nobody screams like Merril.

VHM Macca's "Mary Had a Little Lamb", written to be deliberately wimpy after the "Give Ireland Back..." controversy. BOS Stevie's ode to misogyny, "Superwoman". Very well...

VHM the Polish Prince himself: Mr Vinton's remake of "Sealed With a Kiss" is nicely-done soft pop.  WOS Donna Fargo. Skippidy-doo-dah-blecch. No wonder Nixon was a fan.

Nilsson put de lime in de VHM; Hollies find a long cool Creedence in a T-Rex.  Another VHM David Cassidy's nice take on "How Can I Be Sure".

More lovely pop: BOSes to the Stylistics' socially-conscious "People Make The World Go 'Round" and Cher's "...House Divided" against the charts.

BOS to How Can I Be Sure by David Cassidy.  I'll say it's NTM,  but it's my fave Rascals song, and I might be prompted one day to do a karaoke version of this if the stars align -- in a bad way, of course! -- but I was disappointed that his version song didn't end with the last line "I'll be sure with you," which is the way the Rascals end theirs.   

Without that last line, the singer leaves you dangling,  Is he sure or not?   I guess David is still going to leave his options open!   Not surprising based on the story Casey tells about the rabid female fans wanting a piece of David's "125 pound" body.   Maybe he wants some pieces, too!

BOS1 the Beach Boys' wonderful "Getcha Back", easily their best '80s single -- light years ahead of "Kokomo".

More VHMs: Dead or Alive, spinnin', and HoJo, who says it gets better. But John Cafferty says things are tough all over. WOS3.

I loved "Cannonball" at the time of its release and was disappointed that the rest of Brother Where You Bound was self-indulgent and kinda tuneless, especially the 15-minute title track.
