HA!  Casey intro's 10CC's I'm Not In Love by talking about the band's name.  Producer Jonathan King, who also named Genesis, said the name, uh, came to him in a dream.

sure, dude.... better clean the sheets, there's a nasty stain that's lying there.

LOL! I hear he also named Pearl Jam.

Hour 3: Mr Idol's little-heard "Sweet Sixteen" sounds surprisingly good to me this morning.  WOS3 Motley Crue.

BOS4 Pseudo Echo, 20 years ahead of the irony-curve with their cover of "Funkytown". BOS5 Expose, making their "Point".  WOS4 Mr Loggins with the execrable "Meet Me Halfway".

proxy of Gaz, Level 42's "Lessons in Love", which I'd forgotten peaked as high as #12; BOS6 the System, "Don't Disturb This Groove"

No truth to the rumor that Luther Vandross recorded a cover of "Luka" as "mah name is Loofa".

Final BOS as I exit: Mr Alpert and his favorite labelmate, Miss Jackson, with "Diamonds".

The girls in Company B are fascinated by your love toys, giving new meaning to the phrase "boogie woogie bugle", boy. BOS1.

You mean to tell me you can make sex toys out of toilet paper rolls and masking tape?  Hey, is that a tube of toothpaste?  What!   ;)

I tuned in to the funtastic sounds of Company B, but the company I had over wasn't exactly fascinated by the song or the rest of the broadcast.  I did get to hear "Pleasure Principle" (with the volume turned down...booo) but am truly bummed I missed "Diamonds".

It's a July 4th special on that '70s Casey this week -- The 40 Top Artists of the '70s, orig broadcast July 1978:

http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/07-01-78.pdf

And the '80s July 4th special is a "Top Artists of the '80s, So Far" countdown that aired in 1983 (seems silly to have done a top-artists-of-the-decade chart only 3 years in, but whatevs):

http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/07-02-83.pdf

I think I'll be bypassing both of these to listen to the Dan Ingram airchecks that Rewound Radio will be running all weekend.

"Hold" on: we begin with Argent's "Hold Your Head Up" and the Osmonds with a song written by a ballerina's assistant: "Hold Her Tights". Nobody screams like Merril.

VHM Macca's "Mary Had a Little Lamb", written to be deliberately wimpy after the "Give Ireland Back..." controversy. BOS Stevie's ode to misogyny, "Superwoman". Very well...

VHM the Polish Prince himself: Mr Vinton's remake of "Sealed With a Kiss" is nicely-done soft pop.  WOS Donna Fargo. Skippidy-doo-dah-blecch. No wonder Nixon was a fan.

Nilsson put de lime in de VHM; Hollies find a long cool Creedence in a T-Rex.  Another VHM David Cassidy's nice take on "How Can I Be Sure".

More lovely pop: BOSes to the Stylistics' socially-conscious "People Make The World Go 'Round" and Cher's "...House Divided" against the charts.

VHM Dr Hook -- "stop sniveling, you wimp!" and proxy of Gaz, Godspell -- "stop miming, you wimps!"

Hour 2 begins with BOS4: Ree-Ree's lovely, forgotten "All the King's Horses". (the B-side, "April Fools", also got some NYC airplay at the time)

VHM Procol Harum and the Edmondton Symph.

"Where is the love, Roberta?" "It's out on that window-ledge, Donny!"

uber-BOS5 MJ's fab "I Wanna Be Where You Are"

VHM Alice C, who's got no joyz with the girls'n'boyz. I never need hear "Layla" again, but Donny Osmond's remake of "Too Young" sounds quite sweet this morning. WTF?

Hour 3: Mouth & MacNeil get a BOS6. OMG: I remember this show! Casey follows "How Do You Do" by saying "and *here's* a fine how-do-you-do: Looking Glass move up 15 notches from #27 to #12!". Brandy, you're a gullible but fine girl.

oodles of fine '70s pop here. VHM Gallery; BOS7 Luther (no relation to Dan) Ingram; and Best Cheeze of Set to Wayne "King of Vegas" Newton.

It's a Dan Ingram one-liner fest! Here's America with the baker's love song, "I Kneed You".

Sammy arrives to collect-up all the cream. Er... wha?

The Condoleeza Bros & Sister Rice: it's too late to turn black now!

VHM "Song Sung Blue", from the album Vietnamese Hookers I Have Known.

BOS to How Can I Be Sure by David Cassidy.  I'll say it's NTM,  but it's my fave Rascals song, and I might be prompted one day to do a karaoke version of this if the stars align -- in a bad way, of course! -- but I was disappointed that his version song didn't end with the last line "I'll be sure with you," which is the way the Rascals end theirs.

Without that last line, the singer leaves you dangling,  Is he sure or not?   I guess David is still going to leave his options open!   Not surprising based on the story Casey tells about the rabid female fans wanting a piece of David's "125 pound" body.   Maybe he wants some pieces, too!

TANC: I was just listening to Dusty Springfield's version -- worth seeking out.

Hour 1 of 1985 begins with Mr Springsteenfield, "State of the Heart".

VHM Henley's underplayed "Not Enuf Love..."; WOS Bryan Adams, as is the tradition.

Talk about a trainwreck segue: from the MJGirls "In My House" to... Amy Grant's first Top 40 hit.

VHM Freddie Jackson, continuing the tradition of black women finding fat effeminate men sexy.

OMG! the original Katrina!  and VHM H&O's forgotten "Possession Obsession"

Hour 2, WOS2: Heart, "What About Love", despite Grace & Mickey on backing vox.

VHM Clarence's sax on "Freeway of Love". Never you mind the exercise!

oy, another uber-'trina: Huey's got the "Power". And talk about forgotten: Supertramp's "Cannonball" is one you NEVER hear. VHMFRA.

BOS1 the Beach Boys' wonderful "Getcha Back", easily their best '80s single -- light years ahead of "Kokomo".

More VHMs: Dead or Alive, spinnin', and HoJo, who says it gets better. But John Cafferty says things are tough all over. WOS3.

I loved "Cannonball" at the time of its release and was disappointed that the rest of Brother Where You Bound was self-indulgent and kinda tuneless, especially the 15-minute title track.

BOS to Dead or Alive.  You guys have seen Pete Burns in recent years, I hope?  Simply frightening.

BOS2 to HoJo, just for that glorious opening to "Things Can Only Get Better."
