very first results of the day:

with 3% of Indiana precincts reporting it's Obama 50-48.
with 9% of Kentucky precincts rporting it's McCain 51-48.

Polls closed 2 mins ago in VT, VA, SC, KY, IN & GA.

I voted about 40 mins ago -- walked right in, no wait at all.  Glued to MSNBC, and they've given PA to Obama.  McCain practically lived there for the last week. Oops!

moving this over from the 10@10 thread this morning:
Right -- KGO-TV at 11 last night mentioned in the teaser that "it might be in violation of some federal voting laws", but then didn't follow-up, simply saying Starbucks and Krispy Kreme were giving away free coffee and donuts to anyone who voted.
But another story I heard or read said you didn't even have to vote, just go up and ask.
I believe the fine print in the Starbucks commercial said "Just walk up and say 'I voted' and receive a free brewed coffee."  So I guess they saying they don't care if you lie.
Yes, I believe the law is no gifts in exchange for a specific vote (person or measure), but promoting the general idea of voting is probably okay, but just as in any other contest: "no purchase necessary."

Here's what the NY Times has to say about election freebies.  Be sure to read to the end.

got my free 12oz (aka "tall") coffee from Starshmuck's just a little while ago.  Need it to propel through the night here at work.  I asked for the coffee and the guy said "Do you have the sticker?"     I did, so I'm caffeinated.  I wonder what woulda happened if I said, "No..."

It's amazing how different each network projects. Fox News had 2 Demo gains that MSNBC and CNN didn't have yet. As of 5:30, Fox had Hagan over Dole in NC and Shaheen beating Sanunu in NH. They also had PA going to Obama 15 minutes before CNN did. All 3 major cable news networks had different numbers for the electoral vote.

Sounds as if NPR and Fox are using the same analysts. As soon as the 8pm polls closed on the east coast (PA, NC, NH, several others) NPR called like 7 states for Obama and 2 for McCain. And shortly after gave the NC senate seat to Hagan. They're now saying the Demos have picked up three seats in the senate: the two mentioned above and the Virginia seat vacated by John Warner.
Let's get right to it.

The Dem governor of Michigan, Jennifer Granholm, totally RAWKS! I wanna see her go one-on-one with Palin. Granholm'd mop the floor with Caribou Barbie.

Eliz Dole loses her re-election bid for her NC Senate seat.

"aw, crap..."
she ran a desperate sleazy ad calling her opponent 'godless' which backfired.   Eat it, beeyotch!

If the coverage you're watching is getting a little dry (and you have cable), switch over to BBC-America--their take on things is a kick. For instance, they just interviewed noted political analyst Eddie Izzard!

Ha! thanx for the tip -- gotta love an anchor named David Dimbleby. Positively a Pythonesque name.

It's official -- NBC gives Obama CA, OR and WA, putting him over the top.

Everybody: Huge. Sigh. of. Relief.

At the party in Chicago's Grant Park they just played "Signed Sealed and Delivered". LOL!

Indeed and amen.  He's up to 333 Electoral Votes at the moment -- NBC just gave him Florida.
