And a fine bonus track as well: Allen Toussaint's original version of "Yes We Can Can."

Right -- KGO-TV at 11 last night mentioned in the teaser that "it might be in violation of some federal voting laws", but then didn't follow-up, simply saying Starbucks and Krispy Kreme were giving away free coffee and donuts to anyone who voted.
But another story I heard or read said you didn't even have to vote, just go up and ask.
I believe the fine print in the Starbucks commercial said "Just walk up and say 'I voted' and receive a free brewed coffee."  So I guess they saying they don't care if you lie.
Yes, I believe the law is no gifts in exchange for a specific vote (person or measure), but promoting the general idea of voting is probably okay, but just as in any other contest: "no purchase necessary."

Is it a known bug in the forum software that after posting to a thread, you get taken back to the main index page, instead of the thread you just posted to?  That's annoying.
not for me; it takes me to my post, at the end of the thread

Weird.  I still get taken to the main index page, whether I do a Reply or Quick Reply.  Couldn't find any preferences for this.  Maybe it's because I'm using Chrome.

ooo! ELP, "Fanfare for the Common Man"! BOS and proxy of shray!
By the way, I heard "Vote for Me" by Joe Walsh on KPIG.  Quite amusing, but probably too long to get played here.

would love to hear some Joe Walsh here.  I don't know "Vote for me" but didn't he (sort of) run for VP a while back? like in the Reagan years?

Per Wikipedia:
Quote
Walsh ran a mock campaign for President in 1980, promising to make "Life's Been Good" the new national anthem if he won, and running on a platform of "Free Gas For Everyone." Though Walsh was not old enough to actually assume the office, he wanted to raise public awareness of the election. He then ran again for vice president in 1992 and was unsuccessful.

I remember the presidential shtick in '80, but I'd forgotten about '92.

I saw the Iggles in Nov '79 in Cincinnati*.  At one point Glenn Frey stepped up to the mike & said, "We think Joe Walsh should RUN For PRESIDENT!!!"

bawwah dah bahdah, ba bahdah ba dah  BAH BAH!

*I was visiting a friend from my exchange student summer, and several of her friends that we bumped into at this show called out, "Hey, are you going to The Who next week?"  Fortunately she wasn't - you'll recall the tragic events of that show.

I had to Google -- that was X, "The New World", an ATBB, I'm assuming. BOS3.

VHM Alice, a staple.

You GUYS!   I have been begging for that X song for years & have even quoted y'all here on the board some of the lyrics.

After this one I made up my mind to be extra late for work & hear the entire set in the car.

And what's with the Farnham bashing?  That was the perfect song to get from Fanfare to Just 1 Victory (imho).

Couldn't tell you about that last clip, but this one's a voice I know.

I thought I heard Gerald Ford in there for a second, and if so, it would've been one of his more lucid and inspiring moments, from what I know about him.

I do believe you're right! The one before Carter must have been Lucid Ford. But strange no one else recognised his voice?

Okay, that's another one that I recognized immediately while listening in the car.  Sorry I wasn't here to be more helpful in real time.

TANC: Just tuned in to the archived Idiot's Delight from last weekend over on WFUV.com, and Vin led the set with Todd's Just One Victory. Nice. If anything else of note pops up I'll comment over on the Internet Radio thread for this week, but thought it bore mentioning here 'cuz of the Todd reference.
Let's get right to it.

thanks for the reminder, I always forget to check out Scelsa, and with CGSS gone, I have some listening-hours to fill with something other than WLNG or 'CDX.

For archival purposes, can a mod fix the title of this thread from "Oct." to "Nov."?  Thx.

Done. And I'm a little redfaced, since I was the one who opened the thread in the first place. Ooops.
