KFOG's running a liner that says A-to-Z is "never imitated". Er, guys, there's this station in Boulder...

KFOG has again gotten ahead in the alphabet race. They're on Golden (Slumbers, Years, etc.) while BCO is playing Girl songs. Wonder if they'll play Girl From the North Country?

ETA: Not even! Instead we get Jack Johnson singing about how he wants to lay some girl (down). It even rhymes 'pasta' with 'rasta'--feh!!!

Just heard a semi-forgotten rarity from recent years--Paul Pena's Gonna Move. Like lots of songs, it got lots of play when it finally got released a few years back, not a peep since. Great tune.
Let's get right to it.

I'm not very good at this game.  I incorrectly predicted "Life's What You Make It" after "Life on a Chain" and "Light Up" (Styx) after "Light My Fire."  Ah well.

watch those apostrophes, dude -- some copy editor you are. ;)

The Styx tune might show up when the Bone does A-to-Z...

"Life's" after "Life on" ... I dunno, I'm not sure what rules KFOG is using.

I'm not sure what rules KFOG is using.

KFOG is not particularly following any rules.  I listened a lot while bedridden and among many other things:

"Canary In A Coalmine" and "Candle In The Wind" followed the last "Can't..." songs, which is to say correctly filing an apostrophe before a letter.

But then "D'yer Mak'r" came right before "Dyslexic Heart", instead off kicking of the D section (Renee caught this, btw).

And on Saturday the I section was a complete mess, even though Alphabetization Czar Rosalie was manning the Booth.  She went from the last "I..." song (iirc - "I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You") to an "I'd..." song, then to the "If..." songs, then "I.G.Y." then into the "I'll..." songs.

On Sunday they played "Joker" in front of "Join Together" and then the first 3 songs in the L section were "La Bamba", then "La Grange", then "L.A. Woman".

So you tell me, what kind of system is that?

P.s.  Mike, in your earlier post I think you meant "Feed the Tree", not "Shaking the Tree".

"Loan Me a Dime" and "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" in the same day... pretty unlikely you'd get those in the same month in regular rotation...

Nice, though.

Gaz was correct in his usage. Life's = contraction of Life is. The apostrophe is standing in for the missing letters.

Somehow between yesterday and today, KFOG has overtaken and passed the 'BCO A-Z. Yesterday songs we heard on BCO before 10am (local) were heard on KFOG after 10@10. Today, songs I heard on KFOG while making my breakfast 90 minutes ago (Come to Jesus, Come to My Window, Come Together) are just now being played on BCO.

Btw, I heard Annalisa make specific mention yesterday that their A-Z would last two weeks. Which is about as long as they usually do. Although the first couple of letters sure seem to be taking longer than I remember.

That's interesting, considering that KFOG stops for 2 45-minute "10@10 Breaks" each day (not to mention the Sat marathon and Acoustic Sunrise/set), while 'BCO does not.   KFOG has done shorter versions of A-to-Z (10 days and even 7 days) but they clearly want this one to be one of the better ones. We'll see where the 2 stations are in relation to each other on Mon morning.

However they're managing it, the two stations' A-Zs are more or less keeping pace. BCO is ahead again, but only a bit. They're playing Feist's One-Two-Three-Four while KFOG just went into the O's--Aztec Camera's Oblivious at the moment. I'm going to guess they'll wrap up sometime over the weekend, but if the R-S-T section runs really long it could be later.

ETA: Attention Geoff (and any other Big Mac fans): The full 9-minute version of Oh Well coming up in the next set (3:35 Tuesday afternoon).

TANC indeed!  I just got into my car after leaving school, turned on the key, and there it was, Oh Well, Pt. 2.  Heard it a million times, but something about it always gets to me.  It had a beautiful deep sadness to it.

They're still being maddeningly inconsistent. They just played P.S. I Love You after Prove It All Night and before Psycho Killer, rather than at the beginning of the P's.

But they and BCO are almost exactly in sync again. BCO just played Presence of the Lord and now are playing Pressure Drop.

I'd love to know how many songs, total, each station will have played when A-to-Z is over -- I'm intrigued by the fact that they are nearly in synch, even tho' 'BCO suspends 10@10 and KFOG does not. Somebody's total will be significantly bigger, no?
