Hey all, I was able to snag tix for this Friday 8pm at Great American Music Hall SF, but my usual buddies are not available. If one of you is interested/curious in the hybrid sounds of country, soul, jazz from Lambchop (google 'em) and/or seeing Mike Nesmith, who's doing a rare appearance with them as he readies new music and a possible reunion tour with the country rock band he had in '70s after the Monkees, The First National Band, let me know today, I'll get back to you later tonight or Friday AM. Cost is $20.  FYI below is FB post from Nesmith about the gig -
Here is a quick glance at my calendar and agenda for the next few months – just so you can see. On May 4th I'll be in San Francisco to play a live date at the Great American Music Hall. I am playing a short set at the invitation of Kurt Wagner of Lambchop whose show it is, and I am really looking forward to it. It’s sold out, I’m only singing 4 or 5 songs, and I will scoot in and out of the venue quickly. And I am in the studio finishing up some tech stuff – building another computer – and writing and recording new music. I have put together a book proposal about MTV the Music Video and my mother’s invention of Liquid Paper. I am reconfiguring the Monkees special we did in ’98, and I connected with John Ware about reforming what is left of the First National Band for a short live tour doing the RCA material. That’s pretty much it at the moment. See you May 4th in SF if you're around there.

Wow, were I a bit closer to SF I'd be on this like white on rice. Lambchop is great alone (achingly beautiful songs albeit not the most dynamic of performances), but for the chance to see Mike Nesmith in the flesh--the mind boggles. Dave, I am certainly envious of your going to this. Please post a full report post-show.
Let's get right to it.

I saw he was playing in San Rafael this Friday.  No P. Wolf, so I was taking a pass (no going to San Rafael), but Yoshiis -- I might do that.  Starts at 6, so it can't be *that* bad on a "school night".

I was at opening night of the Alameda County Fair on Wed, Dollar Night to get in, it was crowded, but weather was great and got a preview of some of the new attractions such as the big video screen outside the amphitheater for concerts (watched Tower of Power's tight soul funk) and the new water flume ride at entrance of the Midway. Tonight its 38 Special at 7pm ("Hold On Loosely," "Caught Up In You," "Rockin' Into the Night") followed by fireworks each Friday at 9:30pm. The concert tomorrow is Lonestar (country) and Salt ' N' Pepa on Sunday.  Tomorrow 6/23 I have my '67 Barracuda in the Fair Parade. We'll be near beginning of parade, starts 9:30am going down mile-long length of Main Street, entire parade will last until 11am or 11:30am, then hit the fairgrounds. Concerts list June 20 - July 8, horse racing and other fair info in here:

Tedeschi Trucks Mountain Winery 9.8.12
« Reply #1586 on: September 10, 2012, 10:47:12 PM »
I don't go to many concerts anymore, for a variety of reasons.  The new live 2-CD release from the Tedeschi Trucks Band is one of the best things I've heard in years.  KFOG used to play Susan Tedeschi, but the only place I've heard any of this killer set has been KPIG and The Coast.  This is a powerful band that deserves, and would keep, a much wider audience.  I imagine some club members would really like this, such as Rod or Alicat, and maybe more.  I can't tell anymore what people would like.

Unfortunately I had to check my good camera at the door, so all I could get was a few iPhone snaps.

Tedeschi Trucks Mountain Winery 9.8.12
Wah Wah
Don't Let Me Slide
Until You Remember
Rolling and Tumbling
Love Has Something Else To Say
Isn't It A Pity
Get What You Deserve
Instrumental (flute, no bass)
Swamp Raga/Little Martha intro>
Midnight In Harlem
No One Is Free
Band Intro
That Did It
Uptight
Drums/Banjo bass/keyboard
Bound For Glory
Encore:
If You Grab Ahold Of Me
The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down
The Sky Is Crying

Don't stand in the way of LOVE!

Geoff, are these both George Harrison songs,  or does Tedeschi-Trucks have songs of their own of the same names?

I beleive you are correct in that assessment.  I really did want to see this show, but I kind of spaced on it.  As an ABB fan, I'm quite familiar with Derek Trucks' work.
