Möre Cöwbell, Bitches!

Blue Öyster Cult will be at Slims on Monday July 20th. Alas, I cannot make this show, but have seen these dinosaurs rockers the last three shows at Slims.  It's basically Buck Dharma and Eric Bloom with three very capable dudes who've been w them for years filling out the rest of the band, but they still bring it.  On your feet or on your knees, you already know if you should see them...

A co-worker of mine is a big BOC fan, and he says the same 200 guys show up for all the gigs!  Some drag in their wives or girlfriends.

yeah, sounds about right.  It's 90% dudes, lots of middle aged paunches and skullets... but 100% rock!

The bassist now is Rudy Sarzo, who was in Quiet Riot, Ozzy's band with Randy Rhodes, and a couple of 80s hair bands.
Let's get right to it.

that's right, he replaced Danny Miranda, and he's really good.   He goes apes**t during the slappy bass solo part of Godzilla.

I've met Rudy a couple of times in my past life, and he's a real nice guy, quite musical, and such a star. When he was on the floor at the NAMM show, he was treated as royalty.  That almost makes me want to go!

Why couldn't it be two days later?  I am working on a government grant proposal due the next day.  No way I have a moment to spare on Monday.  Shit.

Saw Coco Rosie's soundcheck in Graz, Austria a few weeks back. She sounds much better live. Someone gave me her CD a couple of years ago, and I threw it in the trash. On purpose.

Then onto Steely Dan in Italy. I'd waited four years to see them again, and they gave me the same setlist. Meh. The inside of the tourbus was pretty dope, though.

On Friday I'll go see Jeff Beck (with Tal!!) here in Madrid. Baby, I-I-I can't wait!
