Check out this event, it's Star Wars with live orchestra accompaniment:
www.starwarsinconcert.com
(coming to HP in San Jose Oct 11)

From the musical angle it sounds interesting, but seeing any film in an arena is an experience I think I'd be forced to pass on. When it starts playing theaters (say, the Paramount, or even BCT), I'd go.
Let's get right to it.

So I bought tix yesterday for Berkeley Rep's new season. A 3-show package that includes American Idiot, an evening of Tony Kushner one-acters, and Girlfriend -- a musical built around the songs from that Matthew Sweet album. But the musical is about a gay romance -- two guys who meet in high school. How do those songs fit that story? Anybody? Bueller?

The title song was initially going to be called "Good Friend"; maybe they've reverted to that?

oddly, his Wiki entry makes no mention of the upcoming stage piece. I've just ordered Girlfriend and 100% Fun from Amazon , where they're both available for a penny each!

Took my son to see Lyle Lovett last night at the Mountain Winery and carpooled with Davefish & wife.

Great show, perfect night.  All the members of the Large Band (including Russ Kunkel) were excellent, as were the 4 backing singers.  LL had some humorous banter with most of them over the course of the evening, and they all got various chances to solo a bit.

Dave & Anne had 2nd row seats, but my KFOG complimentary tix were up in the bleachers, however Steve Wozniak had even worse seats, sitting up behind us about 5 rows.

In terms of kid friendliness, the first song they did was "Choke My Chicken", and when Adrian asked me what that was about I could only say, "I dunno, I guess it's just a silly song."
"Music is the Earth, People are the Flowers, and I am the Hose."

Aerosmith's Steven Tyler falls from stage
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090806/ap_en_ce/us_people_steven_tyler_24

sounds like it could be serious-ish. Hope he recovers swiftly.  (he supposed to play the Bone Bash on the 19th.)

SFGate put this item in the Daily Dish gossip blog accompanied by this photo:

and look at some of these comments.  people are horrible!  (and hilarious!)

His lips couldn't soften the fall?

Walk this waaaaaaay!

He probably broke a hip...damn osteoprosis!

Man, Carly Simon has really let herself go!

Tyler, got off drugs!

Title of tour changed to: Rockers on Walkers Tour 2009

In related news, rocker Tyler has announced he'll join Sir Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stone for the Depends® Countrywide® Geezers on Spin Tour. AARP will handle ticket sales.

Geezerpalooza...

Tyler hasn't aged well. I'd still love me some Joe Perry, tho.

How is this a freak accident? Oh- the picture clarifies that.

the shroud of Turin IS for real, but it's just a blanket Tyler used on an Aerosmith Euro tour.

Rock-n-roll is a young man's game. Admit it and retire gracefully, ST.

Who's the Zombie in the Photo ?

Looks like a fun crowd.

aeroldsmith ...

He looks like my grandma....

Aerosmith just announced their new forthcoming album - "Hey You Kids Get Off My Lawn!" (surprise cameo by John McCain)

He's lucky he didn't turn into dust upon impact.

Does syphilis make you clumsy?

They're still running ads on The Bone for the show -- apparently tix still available after months of flogging the thing. No mention of whether Tyler plans to sing with a broken shoulder.

Has anyone got a Pixies presale password?  They are playing the Fox in November (2 nights), and a buddy says there is a presale tomorrow, but we don't have a password/link...

As much as I love me some Perry, I wasn't going to trek over to Concord for the show. I admire Steven for partying like he does at 61. I can only hope I still have some partay in me at that age and that I live to see that age.
