Not too distant past, Dave sez.

'Mats lead off, although this is their swansong--wait, they were done by '92. This must be Westerberg.
Let's get right to it.

solo Westerberg from the Singles sndtrk, a good way to start.

can Dave keep this up?  "The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight" makes two BOS candidates to lead of a set that I'm sure none of us had our hopes up for.

Comin in, try to jamaica--could never understand this lyric for years. Typical Stipe.

BOS REM and some Nescafe & ice, but I have no illusions about a '92 set.

Interesting that Dave's '92 follows Ginger's '91 and The Peak did '90 this morning.

Almost.  I believe it's, "Call me when you try to wake her up", eh wot?

Well, U2's "One" is certainly a BOS candidate, but I'd rather be hearing the Mary J Blige version.

See, that's the thing about Stipe lyrics--no two people hear them the same. My current translation of that phonetic garble is "comin' in, tryin' to wake her up."

Four songs in, and so far nothing that's made me go "not this again."

a mosquito, my libido.  Well, if I were married to Courtney, my libido would be pretty small too.

half a vote for a song that's "legal" in both '91 & '92.

And our first honest-ta-god katrina of the set, Thomas D, I Love You Goodbye.

Only because Dave's played it often, but it's still a great clip -- notice how Bush TOTALLY dodged the issue of gun control (which is what the question was about).

uh-oh, here's Dolby -- your presumptive BOS.

True, but still a lovely song, and a Narada for me anyway.

I'd put Nirvana in that category too, and really, we haven't heard anything we haven't heard multiple times in this year. My kingdom for a bustout!
