Real People Quiz-a-palooza
« on: November 06, 2006, 11:32:19 AM »
Find the names of these real people in a song's lyrics.  There may be more than one answer, but, as always, I disallow it if it is in the title (for instance #4).  Correct answers contain the name as listed without any portion in blue parentheses.  So if I'd put (Bob) Dylan, you'd need a song that has D-Y-L-A-N but not B-O-B.  The possessive form is acceptable.

1.) Abraham Lincoln
2.) Al Green
3.) Ayn Rand
4.) Bette Davis
5.) Bob Dylan
6.) Bob Marley
7.) Bob Seger
8.) Bobby Dylan
9.) Brenda Lee

What, no Marvin (Gaye)?

54 is "Manic Monday", tho' without parentheses it would be "Celluloid Heroes."

There's a punk-rock version of "Manic Monday" by a band from Austin who's name escapes me; they change the lyrice to "I was kissin' Tarantino..."  (And they're guys.)

I can 2nd poc on the madonna and the nina simone, tho' I'd've guessed the Kinks' "Celluloid Heroes" for the Garbo reference.

"my favorite things" are playing again, and again
but it's by julie andrews, and not by john coltrane

great elvis song. even if he does rhyme "coltrane" with "again," and uses "are" instead of "is."

i can see the lh&r being a little more obscure.

There's a big hit by a local band that also refs Mozart, and I forgot to say that although there may be multiple answers I never use the same song twice.  So you can only get credit with "Celluloid Heroes" one time.

My Garbo reference comes from a song more closely associated with someone else on this list.  And I can think of two much less obscure songs that mention both John Coltrane and his masterpiece.

Well, I wanted to go with "Vogue" for Greta Garbo, but that one was already taken.

Think Coltrane might have made an appearance in "Angel of Harlem"?
