BOS #3 to JCM, "Rain on the Scarecrow".  We got this last month for the first time in a long time, (and I wrote a missive about my uncle), so I'll wait until Dave plays it at least one more time this year before I complain.

Ditto on the Scarecrow.  I never tire of this brilliant LP.

and a BOS to the Hooters -- tho' I recall this being played in some '85 set recently.

...cue the Huey Lewis! or Godley & Creme. or Bowie/Metheny...

missed them so far, but I mostly hope we can dodge Cockrobin.

fwiw, the 2 biggest Katrinas in my sample are "Power of Love" & the aforementioned "Everybody Wants To Rule the World", at 7 out of 25.

Don't think I've heard this Marshall Crenshaw tune before.  Not bad, not great.

BOS2 to Marshall Crenshaw--and this is feeling like Tune #10, so we might have dodged all the usual suspects. Not too bad a set for '85.

ETA: So what's your database tell us about the Crenshaw tune, Mark? Again, not one I can recall hearing.

D'OH!!!! It's f***in' Huey!
Let's get right to it.

Marshall is officially a 1985 bust-out, and to balance his Karma Dave elevates Huey into undisputed Katrina of the year.

btw, we got back to back '85 sets from Bob & Ginger last month, Bob gave us Mr. Mister & Ginger gave us this Hooters tune & we discussed their relative/comparative merits.  But Dave hasn't played "And We Danced" since last July.

Mshray, mshray on the wall,
What is the biggest Katrina of all?

Yay! Bonus coulda been Godley & Creme or SRV, but Foghead chooses... Waterboys, "Whole of the Moon"!!!  One of my favorite lyrics of all time.

I have a cold, so I guess you didn't recognize my voice!  Especially funny that Urth thought he heard me earlier when it wasn't me.

I actually tried to get her to play "Let's Go All The Way" but she wasn't familiar with it, and then she did some real fast editing for the playback of my call.

Do either of you know the original quote I was parodying, and how it became infamous in NYC in the late '70s?
