This David Gilmour song, Love on the Air, is actually a good start.

ETA: I always mentally associate this with Roger Waters' Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking, being as they were out at about the same time.
Let's get right to it.

HM to "Purple Rain," though it really should have been tune #10.

Expecting to hear "Born in the U.S.A." in conjunction with a bitterly political segue, in light of Bruce's "Bring 'em home" mutter last night.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

Dueling Floydies!

VHM Prince, "Purple Rain" -- after the 2 Prince breakouts recently, I'd be foolish to complain, and actually this gets far less play here than "Let's Go Crazy" or "Take Me With U".

Wow, talk about a song hitting you in just the right way--Cyndi L's Girls Just Wanna Have Fun is doing it for me right now.

And I have a sneaking suspicion this could get the popular BOS vote, too. Not too bad an 84 canon so far.
Let's get right to it.

...and the irrepressable Mary Lou Retton...

I sure wanted to repress her back then!

BOS Ms Lauper; Dave hasn't played this in quite some time, but it's sounding wonderful today.

This is very representative of how I remember 1984 sounding, and would be even more so if we'd hear Tina's "What's Love Got to Do With It" and King's "Love and Pride."

I'm feelin' ya, bro (see post above).

Followed hot on its heals by EC's The Only Katrina in Town. Love Elvis, but we hear this a bunch.
Let's get right to it.

Darn, I just tuned in and missed Cyndi Lauper...  I'll just have to put it the CD when I get in my car.  I think the whole album She's So Unusual is great, pretty much every song...
Now I'm eight bits...

even Mr Idol sounds good today.  When I first heard this on the radio back then I thought it was Spandau Ballet.

Tina: another emblematic artist Dave doen't play nearly enough.

"Love and Pride": a personal fave, but... snowball's chance in hell.
