I *hate* the iPhone.

Just had to get that off my chest.

Care to expand on that thought?  How is it impacting you?

Let me guess...monstrous amounts of media hype tied to the exact moment they go on sale results in massive copy editing with short deadlines.

Something like that, yes.

Actually, exactly that. :)
Let's get right to it.

Not me, sorry.  Tiny bit of experience with PeopleSoft before Oracle bought 'em out.

Customer relationship management. A way to pull and segment data about a consumer in your db in order to optimize your direct marketing efforts. It is a concept I know about and took a class on but have no job experience with the popular packaged apps. They are being used by many of the jobs I'm going after.

Craigslist makes the ears perk up:

The San Francisco Bay Guardian, the Bay Area’s progressive weekly newspaper, is seeking a copy chief to lead its two-person copy desk. In addition to editing stories and proofing pages, the copy chief works closely with section editors in managing the flow of copy to ensure that deadlines are met, helps plan ahead for supplements and special sections, and hires and trains freelance help as needed. Familiarity with Chicago Manual style is a must, as is the ability to work under deadline pressure while maintaining a sense of humor. Email resumes to tr@sfbg.com. No phone calls.

update yer resumes -- Wikipedia is moving to SF:

Resumes for 99.99% volunteer positions?   :P

I wanted to go for the SFBG copy chief job above, but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger.  Ah well, I'm sure it'll be up again; alt-weekly copy chiefs usually only have a lifespan of 1.5 years.  (At five months, I was an aberration, but not an extreme one.)

They have a paid staff. I saw this earlier and looked up wikimedia and they have a jobs page. Said not to submit yet but check back soon. I printed the page and told myself to try and remember to look into it. The guy has a for profit gig going in San Mateo which is close by.
