Funny... I was just reading in the All Music Guide... they described MTB as "derivative southern rock" at its worst.... I very much disagree.

1973 Lincoln/Mercury cars --> MTB "Take the Highway". BOS2 and proxy of shray.

TANC: I was sitting in our vet's office a couple of days ago listening to the local Hot Young New Country station they had on, and it occurred to me that if the Marshall Tucker Band was around today (in its original lineup), they'd be HUGE.

A country rock band with a flute player -- how amazing is that?
Let's get right to it.

Lincoln Mercury commercial ---> Marshall Tucker Band "Take The Highway"

This has a pretty hot bubbling bass line.
Slipping into something
And out of something else

Ditto on the OMFG. Don't think it's a bustout, but close enough.  But I bet there's massive screaming going on over in GS-land.

How can you not like this?

BOS Harry Callahan and Clown Alley.

edit: uhm, I think Clown Alley, if it DID appear in a Dirty harry movie, was in Sudden Impact.  I dunno, I'm tired and hypnotized.

the thing is, this doesn't sound like the raspy-ass Tom Waits that he would become. I actually checked Wikipedia to make sure there wasn't a cover version that year.
