ETA: Actually the film may have been After Hours. She was in that as well, also in '85. And the dialogue seems to fit with what I remember about that film's plot.

After Hours and King of Comedy are very underappreciated Scorsese.

Well, the songs were mostly lead singles or the best-known tracks from their respective albums, so in a vacuum these are great songs, but there was zero surprise factor.

Was that a subtle way of distancing herself from the mediocrity of that set? The only truly cringe-worthy song was Punkinhead, aka Phil C, but there was a pretty high LN factor nonetheless.  It sounded like 85 but not in a good way. Bryan Ferry gets my BOS, but only for lack of competition.

I saw what you did there.

I love that song, and songs 2 through 10 were all sledgehammery for me.  The only one I don't dig is the Huey Lewis, probably b/c we hear it a bit of every time 10at10 starts.  PS: I didn't actually listen.

A late-breaking confirmation that this was indeed After Hours.  An quirky film that probably
won't seem as outré today as it did then.  Many of the ensemble cast were relative unknowns
at the time, and went on to become more famous for other roles.
