Highlight of the morning, from KCDX: Mountain's "Theme From an Imaginary Western", an FM staple in 1970, now all-but-forgotten...

back to 'CDX in time for Huimble Pie to spend 30 days in your, um, hole.

Followed By Mott the Hoople's fab "Golden Age of RnR" and some minor 3DN ("Brickyard Blues").

NTM on 'CDX: Timothy B Schmidt's "Gimme Some Money", sounding like a Glenn Frey Miami Vice reject.

But it's followed, appropriately, by Randy Newman's fab "I Love LA".

Holy Flaming Mother of Jeezus! JJ on KPOO unearths a soulful cover of "Spirit in the Sky" by Dorothy Morrison -- onetime lead female vocalist with the Edwin Hawkins Singers. Lawd!  Great, NTM, and (sadly) it never even charted.  Gotta research this one when I have some time next week.

Followed by 2 classics -- Chi-Lites "Power to the People" and Detroit Emeralds "Feel the Need" -- and the decidedly less-than-classic "Superfly Meets Shaft", one of the rare black cut-in records.

Barry Scott's got Peter Tork as a guest tonight.  He doesn't sound great.

WOS to the DeFrancos' degradation of "Save the Last Dance for Me"; OMGWTF of set to Glen Campbell's torched medley of "Don't Pull Your Love" and "Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye," which I'd never heard before.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”
