by rights it ought to be a '70s day but I suspect we might get mid-to-late-'80s.
Tim: "the year that introduced me to my favorite rock artist of all time". Well THAT narrows it down. ::)
ah, '77 -- and we start with Crapton. AL played "Lay Down Sally" at 6am, so I did NOT need to hear it twice today.

It's one of those songs for which once a month is too many. LN1

Can't access FB right now but I'd guess we're informed as to what the price of a gallon of gas was. :o

agreed. And "Alison" is LN2. So, is Costello Tim's all-time-fave?

Dear God. Unlike the Crapton, I enjoy the Costello, but let's face it - it has no business being played within 10@10.

TANC: "Dark Star" which was discussed on FB just yesterday. Hrm.

CS&N? (Not actually listening, just following comments)

uh, no. CSN.
good gawd: uber-uber-uber-LN3 "Margaritaville". I could use a drink right about now.

I'm guessing average income was supplied as well by our Rotemaster.
-
So far BOS CS&N, pretty much by default. Who knows, maybe we'll get "Hotel California"! :P
-
LN4: Marley. Like his 4 or 5 biggest "hits" don't show up on KFOG every freakin' day.

I thought the Dead's version was older.
This Marley is great, but probably in the LN category. Anything from Legend is, but he's one of those artists (like the Stones, for example) whose lesser known songs are often the same caliber as their hits.
-
VHM "Gold Dust Woman", not a rarity by any stretch but at least not one of the singles from that LP.

But unlike the Stones, most of Marley's songs do in fact sound the same.

Nope, stretching out today. Monthly rent (yes, another FF) = $240 and Sassy bikini = $9
I suggested listeners supply their own memories and made my own five-minute post. You'd figure someone at KFOG would be able to put that kind of time into gathering some yearly highlights for FB.

Sassy bikini would qualify as this week's OMGWTFLOL

I'll VHM Supertramp because it's not "Give a Little Bit". A college radio memory for me.
-
proxy of Rod: "Touchdown Rrrrrrrrrrraiders"/John Madden looks like a slit watermelon.
uber-uber-uber-LN5: Queen. Truly a song I never need to hear again, esp in the context of 10@10.
-
I was wondering if that was 'Tramp.
At least my sons would be enjoying this uber-LN (Queen), if they were here.
-
"You brought me fame and fortune and everything that goes with it
I thank you all!"
-
BOS Bonnie R's attempt to have a hit remake like her friend Linda Ronstadt. It still fell short of the Top 40, however.

"Tell me about it - prices these days for Sassy Bikinis are ridiculous! :D" -- GD

Thank the gods! Something to vote for -- Neil, BOS by a landslide.
-
BOS2 Neil, like a hurricane blowing most of the rest of this set away.

I wonder if this and Costello are going to be the most punk rock songs of the set. I guess punk wasn't too happening on American radio in '77. I don't remember hearing it (at eight years old).

the more progressive FM stations were playing the Ramones and Sex Pistols at that point. But then I was in NYC and the proximity to CBGBs made radio more aware.
-
oh, well, this set twern't no party, it weren't no disco, and there was very little fooling around. It was certainly no Mudd club, nor CBGB & OMFUG
we're getting used to this now.
-

2. Elvis Costello - Alison
(Movie: Star Wars)
3. Crosby, Stills and Nash - Dark Star
4. Jimmy Buffett - Margaritaville
