will it be nuggets or overplayed #1's? Only Icky (who wasn't yet born in 1975) knows for sure...
I predict Springsteen, Aerosmith and Elton John.
meanwhile, pre-set on the stream: Meiko (?) yet another Feist-alike. Is there no end to these women? It's like there's a binderful of 'em, or something.
-
KC and the Sunshine 'Trina, uh-huh, uh-huh. LN1.
-
damn, I almost predicted Wings too. 2nd #1 hit of the set.

-
VHM commercials medley.
LN3: Bowie, wop-wop-wop.
-
voulez-vous coucher avec 'Trinas? Renee would. 3rd #1 out of 4 songs.
-
BOS Dog Day Afternoon.
one of the uber-uber-LNs of all time: "Bohemian Rhapsody" -- and another UK release date situation.
I still remember the first time Scott Muni played this on WNEW-FM -- "wait'll ya hear this wacky thing -- it's the #1 single in England!"

I don't care how unnecessary it is. Turn it up!

AUTO BAAAAHHHN.
BOS, signed in just to say this.
P.S. Liked Bohemian Rhapsody, despite being overplayed elsewhere.

sorry, I never need to hear it again, ever.
But *HUGE* BOS2 to Kraftwerk. When I went to see The Master @ the Grand Lake a few weeks back, they played this entire album over their fab sound system before the movie.

I'm havin' fahn.
-
LN4 or 5: ELO,
"Moneygrabber" "Evil Woman"
-
BOS3 first-ever SNL sketch.
BOS4 another actual underplayed nugget: Pointers, "How Long (Betcha Gotta Chick Onna Side)". Lawd have mercy -- this appears to be a bustout! And it's the loooong version too. So kudos for that.

I'm digging it.
-
LN6: 10cc. another loooong one.

I'm gonna BOS it anyway. It takes me back to 75. And I used to think the breathy interlude was "because it's too quiet". Makes no sense, but there ya go.
-
Oy: my Aerosmith prediction comes true. "Sweet Emotion", one of the most-played classic rock tracks ever. LN7.
Again, kudos on Kraftwerk & the Pointers, but the rest... really sounds like 10@10-by-committee. And a committee that wasn't necessarily born yet in the year being featured.
-
"I don't even know what to say" -- when do you EVER, Renee?
"I went light on the audio production today"-- and that makes today different... how?
-
1. KC and the Sunshine Band - That's the Way (I Like It)
2. Paul McCartney and Wings - Listen To What The Man Said
(Commercials: Big Mac, action figures, Ricardo Montalban hawks Corinthian leather, Bud swills beer and KFC pimps chicken, and TV Guide looks at TV Soaps being too real)
3. David Bowie - Golden Years
4. Labelle - Lady Marmalade
(Movie: Dog Day Afternoon. Sonny robs a bank instead of asking mom for cash)
5. Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
6. Kraftwerk - Autobahn
7. ELO - Evil Woman
(TV: first-ever SNL sketch - "I would like to feed your fingertips to the wolverines")
8. Pointer Sisters - How Long (Betcha Got a Chick On The Side)
9. 10CC - I'm Not In Love
10. Aerosmith - Sweet Emotion
-
10am meeting, so I came in during the SNL skit. So, of the three songs I was present for:
BOS, Pointer Sisters.
And probably true if I had heard the whole thing.
-
missed the show, but:
#1s: 1,2,4
AAA Standbys: 3,5,7,9,10
Rock Rarity: 6
Interesting: 8
So, this comes in at about a low D, but not quite bad enough to be D-

As far as songs I never need to hear ever again go, it is much, much more true of "Sweet Emotion" than "Bohemian Rhapsody". In fact, I don't mind hearing BR occasionally, but I've never understood the SE love.

SE wan't even a big hit at the time, either on Top 40 or AOR. All of a sudden in the last 10 years it became "beloved" by Classic Rock radio. I was in NY a few years ago and on their classic rocker Q-104 (which I only listened to for about 90 mins in the mornings) I heard it 5 or 6 times in 7 days.
-
predictions: if the pattern holds, we've got a late-'80s set and a '60s excursion in the next 2 days. Unless DC wants to push '00s back into the mix.

teehee... well, at least she's being honest.... right?
Despite several world class LNs, I enjoyed this one. mainly because of Kraftwerk and Pointer Sisters.

Agreed. Tuned in to the replay during Bohemian Rhapsody and don't feel like I missed a thing.
I would add that the segue from How Long into I'm Not In Love worked really well for me. The latter may be LN in the ears of some of you, but I'm a sucker for it. (Although the Pointers would have gotten my BOS vote overall today.)
