and we finally get '68 and people are requesting "Hey Jude", "Everybody's Talkin'", "Born to Be Wild", "Dock of the Bay", "Build Me Up Buttercup"... er, just turn on Oldies 103.7 and wait 10 minutes.

Not that long, really. We did 1969 on Aug 5. The first half of the 70s have been more scarce than the 60s. We haven't visited any year between 1970 and '74 since late June or longer.

I'm guessing DC would like '60s to be a once-a-month "Treat".  And to be a total 10@10 history-geek, I'll note that there was a period in the Morey era where only '68 and '69 were allowed and they each came up once a month.  Towards the end of his tenure, the target demo shifted and he was permittted to do '67 and even '66 occasionally.  He even did a couple of '60s Vertical tastings, which were quite a delightful shock. Then when AL took over, we were back to getting a '60s set virtually every week, and '65 reappeared, as did '64 (briefly).

ETA: it would appear Marvin & Tammi are a given, what with Mr Ashford's passing.

In many ways this set was exactly what I feared it to be: Our token pre-1985 ride for the pay period, but without much in the way of scratching below the surface.

You will obey our overlords, we do not want our listeners to be challenged. Stay between the lines!

I made a comment on FB saying "Yay for the Moody's ponderous heaviosity" - I mean, I KNOW they're a little silly at times, but I diggem.

I like the 60's, especially Soul Patrol. But this is too overplayed, as many of you pointed out.

Most over-exposed: Piece of my Heart, Jude, Dock of the Bay

The last one left permanent burns on my ears as part of the horror that was the SF Giants set last fall. OUCH.

I'm offended at the "new" 80's we're getting. How many times can you play The Call, "Let the day begin"? Or all the obvious hits from INXS? TFF?

For 80's, I want early Metallica, DKs, Violent Femmes, Erasure, Alphaville, Young Fresh Fellows, Run DMC, etc.

Every set should have about 20% "NTM" songs!

For 80's, I want early Metallica, DKs, Violent Femmes, Erasure, Alphaville, Young Fresh Fellows, Run DMC, etc.

Every set should have about 20% "NTM" songs!

EXACTLY!!! From your keyboard to Dennis Constantine's eyes!

Dittoes. And it's interesting how many "younger" Fogheads are critical of the new music mix, both inside and outside of 10@10. As I noted in the "KFOG but not 10@10" thread, not only did we get a '68 set yesterday (weak as it may have been), but AL played another Beatle tune later in her shift ("Two of Us") *and* played the Beach Boys as her vinyl cut at 3:00. That's more '60s than they've played in a month. So either they're getting feedback from the younger demo saying "hey, we don't HATE everything pre-1978" or else DC is on vacay this week. (I have yet to get a reply to my email so maybe it's the latter.)
