Vote early and vote often! Already we have a request for "Waiting On A Friend".
I do have to voice my displeasure with AL mentioning Nancy Grace, who definitely creeps me out.
-
And Scott Fisher picks not one, not two, not four, but EIGHT songs that never need to be played again.

Speaking of being creeped out! He also requested Don't Stop Believin'. Oy.
I'd love to hear Beat Surrender and other left of the dial type of tunes and less Yacht Rock.

Your anti-"Believin'" rant is up to 9 "likes" right now! Poor Scott may slit his wrists tonite. I plus-one'd "Gloria" and someone's Kid Creole request.

with all the weiners in the news lately, coconuts are appropriate.
But forgive me for not knowing what "oh, oh, oh, Stone Cold" means. ???

Yeah, no idea there. Something tells me this is the time of night when AL's FBers wine & Vics start kicking in, judging from the comments.

TOTHWOS, "Abracadabra", Steve Miller
-
did he just say "silk & satin, leather & lace, black panties with an angel's face"?
-
TOTHWOS, "Abracadabra", Steve Miller
indeed, much as I like "whip" sound effects. "Let it Whip" would make a nice segue, actually...
-
Ouch the extended mix.
-
did he just say "silk & satin, leather & lace, black panties with an angel's face"?
and you thought Weiner was a perv!
-
did he just say "silk & satin, leather & lace, black panties with an angel's face"?
You are correct, sir. He feels the magic in your size, too.
-
BOS1 to "Valerie", which could also qualify for 1987.
-
it's Lee Greenwood! er, I mean...

We should make a list of the established rock acts who tried to make a New Wave-ish record circa 1980-83, and how many failed miserably. This certainly qualifies.
The short list of those few who pulled it off includes Bowie & Robert Palmer, any others?

Linda Ronstadt could go either way. Let me think about that.

Killing me. People at work hear me laughing.

sorry I gotta WOS this for the precise reason in my previous post. Woulda been a much better song if it had been produced in 1978 or something, with real drums and maybe some saxophone.
-
BOS BOS Talk Talk, "Talk Talk"

No worries. Personal sledgehammer (senior year of high school).
-
BOS Talk Talk2.
Now this is how you use a drum machine & synths.
ETA: and having gotten myself into this frame of mind, I realize how effective the use of accoustic drums & piano are on the bridge there.
-
Talk Talk sounds amazingly OK and you know I'm not a big 80's type.
-
BOS2 Mr Crenshaw.

-
What everybody is waiting for: The late Laura Brannigan.
Valerie, Mary Anne, Gloria....who's next?
-
Honestly, until Will Ferrell had mentioned she died on a 2005 SNL, I had no idea she had passed.

I'd say the same about Genesis, love "Abacab" (BOS #3) but not a lot of the rest.
and I give us all some kudos for not taking the bait on Mike's coment about Linda going either way.

I was just going to say - this is a prime example of prog rock trying to incorporate new wave, and I have to admit I like this.
-
Fogheads are funny today: "ABACABadabra", from AL's page.
VHM Kim Wilde, which woulda been a BOS once upon a time.
-
BOS, "We're The Kids In America"

-
WOS Men At Work... I was feeling trippy until this came along.
-
least necessary: MAW. sheesh.

tee hee, I get a kick out of that.
I'll give Genesis BOS. I'm a fan, saw them on their 83 tour.
I like Valerie, too. So sue me!
-
VHM that sexy voice with a sexy-trina.
-
BOS overall to Roxy Music. Anything from Avalon would have been welcome.

The failure list:
KING CRIMSON
Barry Manilow, "I'm Your Man" and "Some Kind of Friend"

I don't think I've ever heard Barry M's "I'm Your man" -- presumably not a Wham cover.
I'd count Melissa Manchester's "You Should Hear How She Talks about You" as a success, but that's probably just me. Blue Oyster Cult also had a New Wave-y track whose title escapes me; the DJs on WPIX-FM at the time used to play it and say "that was The Blue Oyster Cars", heh heh.
