AL's FB clue: the year of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. This Nineties-on-Friday thing is depressing.
-
Not for me. ;D
I hope she plays Thomas Dolby.
-
I don't expect to give a BOS vote. Anticipating two grunge chestnuts, two alterna-pop throwaways, two Moreytrinas, and some blooz.

I suppose "Bitter Stuff" fits in well with your analysis :)
And is "It's a Shame About Ray" an "alterna-pop throwaway"? Maybe so, but I like it. HM. (but no BOS :)

It's a shame about Gaz. But sadly, I agree. -- I asked AL for some pop chart action on FB yesterday (Prince, Shanice, CeCe Peniston). But I'm not holding my breath.

INXS's "Not Enough Time" is worth a VHM. But Evan Dando is the very definition of "effortless," so yes, I'd call IASAR an alterna-pop throwaway. Same with Juliana Hatfield's "My Sister," if that comes up here.
-
well, I'll BOS "Divine Thing", one of the great Stones imitations of all time.
-

Shanice would be a treat - "I Love Your Smile" is the cheeriest song ever. Was CeCe that early? My memory places her mid-decade.
And I forgot about post-Madchester glammy rock in my predictions - hello, Soup Dragons.

That would have been an impressive prediction. These guys sure sound like the Stone Roses, but I guess there's a reason for that. I'll give 'em another HM since this is NTM.
-
It's A Shame is a big fave... BOS for that
also Los Lobos...?
-
the inevitable Twin Peaks clip. Bad show, worse movie.
VHM "Blood makes Noise" -- Ms Vega trying to stretch, a tad.
-

HM to Twin Peaks just for Joan Chen being in it.
-
That was a weird clip, apparently from Twin Peaks, but it didn't sound at all familiar. Of course, the movie was pretty bad, so I may have forgotten it all. Except the naked parts.
-
BOS to INXS. BOS2 to Suzanne Vega.
Meh @ the Lemonheads. I'm getting as sick of that one as I am of Mrs. Robinson.
-
WOS: overfed throwaway grunge on "I Nearly Lost You."
-
BOS for this one, which is Screaming Trees, right?
ETA: Looked it up. "Nearly Lost You". Good stuff, and NTM.
-
WOS: overfed throwaway grunge on "I Nearly Lost You."
"an overfed long-haired leaping grunge..."
-

ETA: Looked it up. "Nearly Lost You". Good stuff, and NTM.
that's funny, 'cause it's the only song of theirs I ever heard on the radio.
-
Suzaane Vega does that talking singing thing like Lou Reed. I wonder what a duet form them would sound like..? Their range would reach all of half an octave.
-
WOS: overfed throwaway grunge on "I Nearly Lost You."
Wow, you're on quite the roll with adjectives today. ;)
-
Happy Happy Joy Joy!! Closest to a BOS for me so far....

BOS2 Cracker

I don't remember hearing them at all on the radio. I've heard them on RadioParadise, and the song is "Sworn and Broken". I like their sound.
HM for Cracker, but not a particularly good song.
-
BOS Cracker, "Teen Angst." (Is that the name?)
-
Another meh @ Cracker because I'm tired of it. Not that bad of a song, but not good enough to still get all the recurrent Alt./AAA/Hot AC/even some pop spins that it still gets.
-
BOS Cracker, "Teen Angst." (Is that the name?)
"Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now)", in its parenthetical entirety.
-
the inevitable Twin Peaks clip. Bad show, worse movie.
VHM "Blood makes Noise" -- Ms Vega trying to stretch, a tad.
Yesterday was the 20th anniversary of the first Twin Peaks TV episode. Also my brother Chris' 21st anniversary.
BOS Ren & Stimpy!!!
-
OK, this is Ren & Stimpy overkill now.
-
Tuned in late, but still think Ren & Stimpy has been the best thing about this set so far.
-
Woo Hoo Happy Happy Joy Joy part Deux
-
I liked "Remedy" when it first came out, but I don't think it holds up. But they get credit for being the last boogie rock band.

BOS Ren & Stimpy!!!
So I dig Ren and Stimpy, but who's doing those bits? Not the original dudes.
I'll give another HM for Black Crowes. They sure sounded fresh when they came out.
-
OK, this is Ren & Stimpy overkill now.
I don't think you're happy enough.
-
Tempted to BOS the Black Crowes' Remedy, when they were still trying to fill the Stones/Aerosmith niche, before they got all jammy on us.
-
Ren & Stimpy. I was in grade school during this and this is what all the kids were watching. The teachers, on the other hand, tried to discourage us, saying things like "this is one of most offensive cartoons ever." LOL!
HM to Black Crowes for being a song that isn't She Talks to Angels.
-
So I dig Ren and Stimpy, but who's doing those bits? Not the original dudes.
As I recall, one of the orig guys quit/was replaced in a contractual dispute.
-

ha! way to absolutely GUARANTEE that you'd watch it!
-
WOS: overfed throwaway grunge on "I Nearly Lost You."
Have to disagree with you on your characterization, Screaming Trees '92 release Uncle Anesthesia was their fifth album, and all the other Seattle bands were trying to be like them, not the other way around, and the Grunge term wasn't applied to them until this song showed up on the Singles soundtrack.
-
VHM LL.
-

yes, they do! I'm liking it a lot today.

Exactly! :) I'd seen it a few times before and personally didn't see the appeal, but I made sure to watch it a few times after they said that. :P
-

That's true, but it was John K, the voice of Ren. Stimpy continued to be voiced by Billy Mumy of "Lost In Space" fame. And this ain't him, so says I.
And a real BOS for Lyle Lovett, who sounds like he's from a whole nother universe than the rest of what was on the radio.
-
BOS3 @ Lyle Lovett. Was mighty good at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass last year.
-

was that Billy West? he did GREAT voices, and did an extended stint on The Howard Stern show.
-
Ren & Stimpy. I was in grade school during this and this is what all the kids were watching.
Ha! I was in grad school during this and this is what all the kids grad students were watching.
-
BOS clip - Seinfeld gang - masters of their domains - for a while...

Oops, I'm totally wrong about which Billy. My bad. Billy Mumy was in Barnes and Barnes of "Fish Heads" fame. Duhhh......
Anyway, it didn't sound like Billy West.
-
And BOS for "The Contest". That was just about the funniest thing I ever saw on TV.
-
WOS Crapton and his kazoo up the wazoo.
-
WOS Crapton and his kazoo up the wazoo.
I'll second that. Worthless track.
-
Have a marvy weekend, all!

So to complete the full mea culpa, not that anyone is listening, but the HHJJ song is sung by "Stinky Wizzleteats", rather than Stimpy. So it could be Billy West, but just not sounding like Stimpy. Actually, it sounds more like John Kricfalusi, the creator of the show and many of the voices including Ren.

ah, yes, Stinky Wizzleteats. He was at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass a couple years ago, wasn't he? ;)

Yeah, I think he sat in with Robert Plant and Allison Krauss. :D

"Butterfly" got a small amount of airplay as I recall, but "Nearly Lost You" was far and away their most played song.
-
BOS Screaming Trees
VHM Soup Dragons
WOS Clapton
Would love to hear in a 1992 set, but probably won't: "Good Stuff", B-52's. Hell, anything off of that IMHO vastly underrated album.

hmm, I see that in the Amoeba clearance bins all the time. That's after Cindy Wilson quit for a while? I'll have to get a copy.
