Crapton's seed's all dry, love. TMI, Eric.
-
Eric's seed's all dry, love.
I think it's Jack's (speaking of Cream...) A strong start.
(It is "seas are dried up", isn't it? Or are you just funning?)

I hear him saying "my", not "the", so I always thought it was "seed". Unless he owns a sea.

"Yay for the Status Quo!" said the American electorate!
"but it's pronounced 'STAY-tus', you uncouth yanks", said the Brits.

another BOS to Ride My See-Saw, the song that got me into the Moodies
I bought their cassette of In Search of The Lost Chord and listened to it in my first "walkman" -- a model from Sears that was about hald the size of a phone book

Regarless of the use of the possessive, I hear him say "seas" rather than "seed's" too. File this one with the Mondegreens, methinks.

I'm with you my love,
The light's shining through on you.
Yes, I'm with you my love,
It's the morning and just we two.
I'll stay with you darling now,
I'll stay with you till my seas are dried up.

the lyrics sites tend to be split on the issue; I really think "seed" makes more sense, since he's in bed with some chick in the middle of the night.
DUUUUUDE! da Fudge! Speaking of psychedelia, i tuned past The Bone the other night around 10:30 and they were playing the loooong version of "Inna Gadda da Vida" yet again.

Americans rhyme it with "yeah"

I was gonna say the same thing, though the "Clapton site" says "seas". And that's less weird, I'd have to say.
BOS for Vanilla Fudge! All heavy music, all the time this morning on 10at10.
-
ok, I know I'm not the only one who noticed the opening organ riff of You Keep Me Hanging On matches VERY closely the Nah-Nah-nah-nah vocals of Hush, Am I?
BOS DP

Very Moreyesque set so far. Hush was one of his faves in '68. And everything else we've heard got played at least a time or two during Dave's run. Vanilla Fudge gets BOS from me.

and yet they pronounce Candi Staton's last name like "Staten Island". Go figure!
BOSFRA Steppenwolf's "Sookie Sookie"

what was the cutoff year for lyrics like these?
Be it sight, sound, smell, or touch,
There’s something inside that we need so much.
The sight of a touch or the scent of a sound,
Or the strength of an oak with roots deep in the ground.
The wonder of flowers to be covered and then
To burst up through tarmac to the sun again.
Or to fly to the sun without burning a wing -
To lie in a meadow and hear the grass sing.
To have all these things in our memories hall
And to use them to help us to find…God
Ha ha ha!

Yes, I had to wait a few seconds before I posted my BOS for VF, as I wasn't 100 percents that "Hush" had ended and "You Keep Me Hangin' On" had started...

BOS for Vanilla Fudge! All heavy music, all the time this morning on 10at10.
The heavy-osity continues with Steppenwolf. The first bustout of the day, too.
BOS2, Sookie Sookie.
I'm sure there was lots of mondegreening going on with this one back in the day, too.

the songs by themselves, maybe, but Dave never went through a whole sixties set with nothing but heavy rockers, and so far we are either 6 or 7 deep. I gots to give Annalisa kudos, and wonder if consciously or subconsciously she's responding to the caller who said yesterday's '83 was too guitar-centric. Either way I'm diggin' it.
-
Overall BOS for "Crosstown Traffic". A very cool song that I played (briefly) in my old band.

agreed -- she approaches her sets thematically quite often, which i love, even if it annoys those who prefer variety for variety's sake.
OMFG: rare Monkees BOS2! "Tapioca Tundra", a B-side (of "Valleri", iirc) proxy of gaz, of course.
-
I'm not recognizing this "sunshine, ragtime" song off the top, but it sure sounds like Mike Nesmith on vocals. Deep Monkees track?
ETA: I see Mike confirmed that already. Nice!
BOS3 Airplane, Lather. A Grace-penned tune about Airplane drummer Spencer Dryden turning 30. Not sure why he was nicknamed Lather, but there you go.

I never would have guessed this was the Monkees. Sounds like Michael Nesmith solo, pretty much. And nice cop of the Byrds' "Feel a Whole Lot Better" riff. And how does somebody get to be named "Lather"?
-
VHM Heston of the Apes.
BOS3 and another proxy of gaz: "Lather". I remember seeing them do this on the Smothers Bros show.
-
AL seems to find some rarities for these 60s sets, so I'm glad they finally arrived after the tried and true (but still good) rockers.
BOSFRA for the Monkees and whatever this other one is (Jefferson Airplane. Heh, this modifying bit is fun...)

Yah, I never liked this one, mainly because I don't like the voice.

So how many bustouts did we have here? I know "Tapioca Tundra" was one, not sure about "Sookie Sookie" and "Lather".
and what's the over/under on hearing "21 Guns" between now and 11:00? They played it at 5:55 this morning, so it's due.
-
the last 60's set had Beatles-Stones-Who-Kinks, and this set had none of the above. Another interesting dichotomy.

ETA: ...and "Ride My Seesaw" was only played in the original Sledgehammer set over 8 yrs ago.

first one off the bat. good call!

That would be a "yes" for all three. Dave only ever played Born to be Wild and Magic Carpet Ride in 68, and Rock Me in '69. And no Airplane in 68 at all. Amazing.
And you nailed the first tune out of the set, but you didn't exactly need a crystal ball for that one. :)

Not quite. "Departure/Ride My Seesaw" showed up in three '68 sets, all in 2004.

you're right, didn't see it in the 'D' section. Have since edited the "Departure/" bit out so that it sorts better.

ETASM: But I thought the title was "Goin Down to The Country" or some such.

well, if it helps, I like Canned Heat too! "On The Road Again" is definitely a different song than "Going Up the Country." Are you saying AL played "Going Up the Country" instead of "On The Road Again?"

AL played On The Road Again for sure...

Listening to the replay, noticed that the organ notes also replicate the chords of Pictures of Matchstick Men. That AL, doesn't miss a trick.

Slyboots! Loved it.
Damn, I missed "Tapioca Tundra"! I didn't think over-trebling (?) his voice was a good call, but I love the movement on that one. And yes, it was "Valleri"'s B-side, but it charted #38 in its own right.

I guess not, but I was working while listening and posted later, and maybe the songs got switched in my memory. Maybe I'll catch it on replay tomorrow and figure out where I went wrong. :-[
