I liked your Mary Jane Girls, and "plussed" RGM's Sun City request. The absence of that one is a mystery because there aren't any obvious genre boundaries there. Wasn't Miami Steve the driving force behind that single, for cripes sake?

uber-LN request of the day: "Glory Days"/"Don't You Forget About Me" --both from the same guy.
OTOH, I fully support the request for "Party All the Time"

re: "How To Be a Millionaire"... I suspect we'll get that on Tax Day.

Won't be able to post live today, but hopefully I'll be able to listen in the car.
Take thorough notes!

thanks for the +1! I was always surprised Dave ignored "Sun City" and my only guess is that it wasn't as big in SF as it was on the East Coast, where it got tons of play on both alternative and AOR formats. Anybody who was here in '85 can correct me.
meanwhile I've been listening to an April 1986 retro-chart on 2NG and there've been some stellar gems like Bronski Beat "C'mon C'mon", New Order's "Shellshock", Hipsway's "The Honeythief" and PSBs "Love Comes Quickly".

Obvious Back to the Future clip...
well, OK, Huey's "Back in Time" is a cliche TOTHK but at least it ain't "Power of Love"
-
More BTTF --> INXS "This Time"
-
Still more BTTF --> Hooters, "All You Zombies". I remember how thrilled I was the first time this got played, but it's quite the FF by now.
-
Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure ("I'm a rebel") --> Paul Young "Every Time You Go Away (You take a Piece of Meat With you)"
-
Breakfast Club clip --> J&MC "Just Like Honey". Closest to a rarity so far.
-
Cult, "She Sells Sanctuary". VHM because I've always liked it, but it's far from rare in this context.
-
News: Compact discs are the newest thing! --> Kate Bush, "Running Up that LN"
Sheesh, this is getting kinda ridiculous...
-
Rock Hudson dies --> Phil Collins "Take me Home." WOS.
-
Movie: ?? --> "Slave To Love"
SERIOUS "Yeesh & Sheesh" factor here today.
-
Movie: ?? --> Raspberry fucking Beret. You have GOT to be kidding me.
-
(Movie: Back to the Future)
1. Huey Lewis – Back in Time
(More Back to the Future)
2. INXS – This Time
(Still more BTTF)
3. Hooters – All You Zombies
(Movie: Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure)
4. Paul Young – Every Time You Go Away
(Movie: Breakfast Club)
5. Jesus & Mary Chain – Just Like Honey
6. The Cult – She Sells Sanctuary
(News: Compact Discs are here!)
7. Kate Bush – Running Up That Hill
(News: Rock Hudson dies)
8. Phil Collins – Take me Home
(Movie: After Hours)
9. Bryan Ferry – Slave To Love
(More After Hours)
10. Prince – Raspberry Beret
Man, considering the TON of great suggestions she got (all of which would've been bustouts) this was a major disappointment. Dave Morey's Greatest 1985 Hits.

GS says the movie was Desperately Seeking Susan. Makes sense, that did sound like Rosanna Arquette.
I'm with you but we seem to have a divergence of opinion with a large percentage of the GS contingent.
ETA: Actually the film may have been After Hours. She was in that as well, also in '85. And the dialogue seems to fit with what I remember about that film's plot.

And AL said in the backannounce that these were *all* requests, which shows how lame most Fogheads really are.

There's your R&B/Soul! Also, Prince can be pretty R&B, though Raspberry Beret is a lot more on his pop rock side.
ETA: This is meant as sarcasm (in reading it through, I realized it maybe didn't come through).

After Hours and King of Comedy are very underappreciated Scorsese.

Well, the songs were mostly lead singles or the best-known tracks from their respective albums, so in a vacuum these are great songs, but there was zero surprise factor.

Was that a subtle way of distancing herself from the mediocrity of that set? The only truly cringe-worthy song was Punkinhead, aka Phil C, but there was a pretty high LN factor nonetheless. It sounded like 85 but not in a good way. Bryan Ferry gets my BOS, but only for lack of competition.
-
Agreed with the general LN-ness of the set, although I don't mind the Phil Collins so much.

I saw what you did there.
I love that song, and songs 2 through 10 were all sledgehammery for me. The only one I don't dig is the Huey Lewis, probably b/c we hear it a bit of every time 10at10 starts. PS: I didn't actually listen.
-
This set explains why I didn't listen to the radio a lot in 1985.
BOS, not playing Katrina and the Waves.
-
AL on FB sez Bryan Ferry gets BOS

A late-breaking confirmation that this was indeed After Hours. An quirky film that probably
won't seem as outré today as it did then. Many of the ensemble cast were relative unknowns
at the time, and went on to become more famous for other roles.
