I can't smile without Meat Loaf.  VHMs Messrs Aday and Manilow.  I'd forgotten Carly's Doobies cover got as high as #6.

BOS to Barry's "Can't Smile Without You," a joyous bit of schmaltz that I adored even more as a 5-year-old upon its release.

It's part of my imaginary "Stop the Wedding!" mix.  (Along with "It Should Have Been Me," etc.)

he should've done more covers of obscure '40s tunes; they suit him in the same way they suit his old pal Ms Midler.

BOS4 Bonnie Tyler and her Rod Stewart vocal cords. And she wasn't joking, my dear. I'm guessing that was a truncated version of "Baker St" -- much discussion on the AT40-geek board about edits in this show; no surprise the idea to expand to 4 hours was reaching critical mass around this time due to too many looooong songs.

BOS2 to my beloved Jefferson Starship.  And now I know how to pronounce John Barbata's last name.  (He'd done amazing work with the Turtles before joining the JS.)

I can't hear "Shadow dancing" without thinking of Mr Garrison's plastic surgery on South Park.

...  Bonnie Tyler (great story, btw).

I might have missed the whole story Casey told, but did he say that Bonnie screamed out of frustration during her initial recovery?  Per Wikipedia, that's what gave her voice that irreversible raspiness:

"After the surgery, she was ordered not to speak for six weeks to aid the healing process, but she accidentally screamed out in frustration one day. This caused her voice to take on a raspy quality."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonnie_Tyler#The_1970s

What a fantastic chart. The Rufus was NTM and I loved it, too.  About the only thing I could do with out is Linda Ronstadt screaming.   ETA: Sorry, Mike, but Player's This Time I'm In It For Love sounds like the theme song for weak, failed romcom TV pilot.   :'(

I always expect AT40 to edit longer songs, but Baker Street street sounded faster and higher to me.  Could be the station I'm listening to, which is Madison Wisconsin's Magic 98.. But the pre-recorded jock inserts show off their charming midwest accents, donchaknow..?  No extras, though.  :(

Oh, STOP!  You know this makes me laugh every time...

Speaking of window mishaps...WTF is up with these 2 women who fell out of a 10 story window whilst "play wrestling"?

Pretty Poison had another hit?  I didn't know they had another song!

This Bardot track "When We Kiss" is NTM.  WOS; the rhymes are dumb.

Pretty Poison's "Nighttime" is NTM and sounds like a dozen other '80s "girl group" dance hits.

Early WOS to the LA-white-girl rap of Bardeaux. "When We Kiss" is a lame ripoff of LLCoolJ's "I Need Love" to my ears.

The Aussie alt-rock portion of our programme: INXS/the Church/Midnight Oil.  And the sun comes like a GOD into our room...

BOS1 E.U., doin' "Da Butt".  VHM Pebbles, puttin' her butt in a Mercedes, boy.

eeek: Peter Cetera and MaryLou Retton are a deadly (and mawkish) combination for an LDD.

Paw sum sugah on MAY!  the Leppard leaps upon us and is followed by a (Glass) Tiger.
