KPOO etc week of 5/28/12

wow -- this Staples' tune, "When Will We Be Paid?", is NTM and just great. As is John  Cassandra (?) with "Don't Pat me On the Back and call Me a Brotha" (!)

"Honey Child" -- ah'd walk me a country mile for a Vandella or 2.

2NG's retro-chart is from May 1978. Typical UK weirdness: Guy Marks' 1968 big-band spoof "Loving You has Made Me Bananas" charted in Britain ten years later.

More big-band-iness: Manhattan Transfer's "On a Little Street in Singapore", reminiscent of LRB's "Reminiscing".

and another of David Soul's UK hits that is NTM.

OMFG: Tom Robinson Band, "Up Against the Wall"!! Damn, I haven't heard this one in ages.

Holee crap: Thin Lizzy covering Bob Seger's "Rosalie" -- live. NTM and pretty fab.

Holee crap 2: X-Ray Specs!!
