KPOO etc week of 3/19/12
« on: March 20, 2012, 07:55:01 AM »
Ha!  JJ plays "Superfly Meets Shaft".  and Wilson Pickett's cover of "Mama Told Me Not to Come"! Take *that*, 3DN!

LAWD! my fave forgotten Sam & Dave track, "Soul Sister Brown Sugar", which --yes -- inspired a certain Stones number.  And Honey Cone's fantabulous "While You're Out Lookin' Fo' Sugah (Somebody's Gonna Take Yo' Honey)".  Soul heaven.

Ree-Ree takes it to the bone -- fo' deepness!

2NG's retro-chart is from March 1969 -- Jamo Thomas' fab "I Spy for the FBI" (later covered by the Untouchables) is an "extra". The Tymes soulful interp of "People" is glorious.

OMFG: Don Partridge's "Breakfast on Pluto", which gave the movie from a few years back its title.  Old-timey cheeze that Tony Orlando shoulda covered.

NTM: Lulu's "Boom-Bang-a-Bang".

OK, back to '69 -- "Where Do You Go To My Lovely?" was #1 that week.

But Cilla Black's "Surround Yourself With Sorrow" is NTM and delightful -- Gaz would like, methinks.
