yay, Moodies!  It's Lovely To See (and hear) Them!

TANC, Stone-y Mick telling the Altamont crowd to "Keep cool.."  (did you see that Gimme Shelter video clip Wayback posted in the Youtube topic?)  My GF's parents were actually driving the family (two parentss, two kids) out there to see the show, but one of the kids got sick in th car and they turned around.  She said traffic was horrendous, of course.  Hot car, sick kid, murderous Hells Angels: it just didn't add up ... to twenty-five twenty-five.

Who was the one (Gaz?) that joked about failed follow-up songs?  I LOL'd when he mentioned  "In the Year 2526?"

this was the actual failed follow-up -- it never even charted; kind of amazing considering the huge success of "2525" and the major label (RCA) and the airplay on WABC...

should have ended the set with Elvis.  Is there a better fadeout than Suspicious Minds?

Wed 7/13/11: 1973

Trying to wrap my head around the possibility that The Drive and the Sound may be the only places to hear '60s & '70s sets.  I think I need a drink.

Knockin' on heaven's door indeed...

EJ gets into a fight; Mr Stafford gets into, er, something else.

it ain't '73 w/out the Floyd. Doobs see Miss Lucy down along the tracks; the Brownsville lads are smokin'; Mr Miller gets pompatous.

ooo! BOS America's forgotten "Don't Cross the River", a delight to hear today (and one more for the Banjo Set).

ooo! BOS2 "Rosalita", a summery-flashback treat on a foggy morn.

VHM Stevie, headed for higher grounds -- he prefers Peets to Starbucks.

Dylan - Knockin' On Heaven's Door
Elton John - Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting
Jim Stafford - Spiders and Snakes
Pink Floyd - Breathe
Doobie Brothers - Long Train Runnin'
Brownsville Station - Smoking In The Boys Room
Steve Miller Band - The Joker
America - Don't Cross The River
Bruce Springsteen - Rosalita
Stevie Wonder - Higher Ground

Thur 7/14/11: 1979

could go either way...

Bob says, "to the 'Moon', Sting!"  BOS "Walking On..."

VHM ZZT: dey bad, dey nationwide.

Proxy of Gaz, LRB, "Cool Change"

VHM Iggles, "Those Shoes"

Least-necessary: StuporTramp.

Journey's "Too Late" is a rarity. But that doesn't make it good. WOS  -- especially egregious since the great "Too Late" by the Shoes is also from '79.

Ain't no real big secret: I need refuge(e) from TP.

another rarity: BadCo passes "Evil Wind".  Ewww.

proxy of sg: Blondie checks out some rat food.

aaack! WOS2 Billy Thorpe, "Children of the Sun". Dreadful pseudo-prog noodling.

Police - Walking on the Moon
ZZ Top - I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide
Little River Band - Cool Change
Eagles - Those Shoes
Supertramp - Goodbye Stranger
Journey - Too Late
Tom Petty - Refugee
Bad Company - Evil Wind
Blondie - One Way or Another
Billy Thorpe - Children of the Sun

heh, wow.  BOS from me for sentimental reasons.   I played this album a lot back then.   It occurred to me that I don't have it.  I should probably get me an mp3 copy.

But Tom Petty's Refugee?  I don't have to live like that, do I?

another BOSFRA BadCo.

that disco commercial reminded me of National Lampoon's That's Not Funny That's Sick commercial "Do You Want to Hustle?"   I found it on YouTube:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_9z3jgDtY8

proxy of sunday for Blondie's One Way...

OMG. I must put on my Rush-issue Kimono to listen to this sci-fi epic Children of The Sun!
