Judge's '79-fest has been stellar of course, and it reaches a peak of sorts with Machine's "There But For The Grace of God Go I" followed by Gonzalez, "Haven't Stopped Dancing Yet".
and holy crapola! Here's Peaches & Herb's "Roller Skatin' Mate", one of the more ridiculous lyrics to come out of the roller-disco fad.

Nicest surprise of the afternoon: the BeeGees' "Love You Inside Out", one of the more unjustly forgotten #1 singles, IMHO.

NTM from JJ on KPOO: Eric Mercury, "Love is Takin' Over". JJ will be doing an hour of soul from 1969 at 8am.
Meantime, it's my uber-fave from the Detroit Emeralds: "You Want It, You Got It". Gonna buy you a wash-machine and ironin' board, baby!

Wow -- Margie Joseph's slowed-down cover of "Stop in the Name of Love", replete with a spoken intro that out-dramas the 3 Degrees' "Maybe".

This JJ hour of '69 is apparently date-specific -- songs on the Soul chart this week in 1969. "Too Many Cooks", an early 100 Proof hit, covered a couple years ago by Jagger.
"Hello Sunshine" is also NTM. No idea who's doing this gospelly tune. But I know Ike & Tina's great, forgotten "Bold Soul Sistah" -- thangs'n'stuff'n'stuff'n'thangs! Sock it to the biscuit!

The J-5's "I Want You Back" (always welcome) is really the first megahit JJ has played in this hour of forgotten gems.

No surprise: JJ closes with the #1 Soul single on this date in '69, and it's (of course) the Supes, ""Someday We'll Be Together". Dave Morey would be pleased.
