Was tempted to put this in the Concert thread, but really it belongs here. A day-by-day guide to all the music that's happening around DC between tomorrow and Tuesday.

I would particularly point out the Big Shoulders Ball on the 19th featuring Andrew Bird, Ted Leo, Tortoise, and Eleventh Dream Day, to name a few.

Also, both the SF Boys Chorus and SF Girls Chorus are singing at the Swearing-in Ceremony--but why not the Gay Men's Chorus? Wouldn't that have made for fun in the Green Room, hanging out with Rev. Rick and the fundies?

And I hope you all are watching -- Springsteen just did "The Rising" backed by a huge gospel choir. Just amazing.

Even the JT-hatas here have gotta admit that "Shower the People" fits in nicely with the themes of the day; and teaming James Taylor with John Legend was a stroke of genius IMHO. A lovely moment.

Holy crap! Garth Brooks doing "American Pie". Well, his version is better than Madonna's, anyway.

ETA: and Garth follows that with "Shout" and then his own gospel-country "We Shall Be Free" (which got him in trouble at country radio back in the day 'cause it was pro-gay).

My wife now works at Safeway HQ, and on Tuesday they will have the inaguration on a big screen in the main cafeteria.  All HQ employees are invited to leave their desks and watch the whole thing.  All store employees are allowed to use their breakroom TV's to watch as much as they can without actually closing the store.

In my office our HR Dir/Office Mgr is taking the day off just to watch it.  With three other guys are currently in Taiwan, I might be the only one in the office, so I think I can watch online all I want.

Where is everyone else going to be?

p.s. my cousin Jerome (of Madonna concert fame) & his boyfriend George won some kind of lottery in CO & got official tix.  They're in DC now & probably attended that concert.  I guess the old saying 'what goes around comes around' is True!

We are slated to be in some typical mind-numbing professional development.  I suspect there will be a lot of pressure to let us watch the ceremony instead.

I am going to start my workday late, so will be downstairs in front of my Toshiba 27". But like Mike, I may be back up at my desk in time for 10@10 if the ceremony is not too long.

I'm working overnight tonight, finishing by 4am, so I may well be conked out for the duration.
